The Maryland Access to Justice Commission (A2JC) works to make MD’s civil justice system accessible, user-friendly, and fair for all Marylanders. Low-income Marylanders’ access to civil justice is limited by insufficient resources (e.g., free legal services) available to them. The COVID-19 pandemic has increased Marylanders’ need for help to handle civil legal cases (e.g., failure-to-pay-rent hearings).
The A2JC plans and implements various projects, including forming partnerships with community and legal agencies and organizations.
