About Us

The Integration and Support Unit (ISU), is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) which was established in 2006 in the Edmund Rice International Heritage Centre, Mount Sion, Waterford meeting a new need in the community. Since that time we have served over 3,500 Refugees, Asylum Seekers, and other Migrants within the Southeast Region.

We are humanitarian practitioners who identify, nurture, and share innovative and scalable solutions to the challenges facing effective humanitarian assistance in the Southeast. We work with other NGOs, agencies, academics, and the private sector to provide a variety of supports to our clients, including but not limited to: Advocacy, Integration, professional service referrals, English language classes, Outreach, Policy development, and assisting frontline providers with important resources and information when communicating and serving our client support groups.

We work with clients at Direct Provision accommodation Centres onsite, allowing single parents to overcome barriers such as access, childcare, cost, isolation, and language.

With the assistance of our dedicated volunteers and a small, but highly committed staff, the ISU networks with a number of local, national and international organisations and partners to maximize resources and provide the best service possible to our clients.

We offer streamlined services where supports are linked to specific progression routes for clients which are tailor made to their current needs through a range of methodologies e.g. accredited education & training opportunities.
