Literacy Now Houston

Since our humble beginning in 2006, we have remained true to the vision of our founder, Jerry Davis, to provide opportunities to under-served children that address the needs of the whole child – academic, social, and emotional – and to include their families in the process. Literacy Now (formerly Making It Better) was built upon relationships, and that core value remains as true today as it was 13.5 years ago.

Throughout our history, we have impacted the lives of more than 19,000 children and their parents through critical literacy, leadership, and life skills programming. Over the years we have grown from serving one school with 91 students to serving 2,710 students and parents on 11 HISD campuses and at multiple community sites during the 2019-2020 school year.
