BACKGROUND OF UMOJA EAST AFRICA KENYA

Unemployment and food insecurity has led to many farmers of Kiambu County (Kenya) to abandoning their original professions.

Some are trying their luck in running small business but most fail because they don’t have the right skills to do so.

“Umoja” means “unity” and we envision a united farming community which is transformed through a positive mindset shift.

Umoja East Africa (registered on 6th august 2014) is a non-governmental organization which started training in Kibera slums by teaching young farm entrepreneurs composting skills and basic of organic farming.

We hope not only change the lives better for those in the Kiambu counties but to give positive impulse for more awareness about the marketability of organic food.
