Earth Island Institute

Founded by legendary environmental activist David Brower in 1982, Earth Island Institute incubates and nurtures the most exciting environmental leadership of our time. Our 70 current projects – which tackle everything from climate change, to biodiversity conservation, to fighting plastics pollution and boosting food security – employ many solutions-focused strategies to save our shared planet. In addition to our project support services, we invest in Public Education through our quarterly Earth Island Journal, public programs, and our Restoration Initiatives. Furthermore, wesupport youth environmental leadership through our New Leaders Initiative and annual Brower Youth Awards.
