About Us

The mission of the Pittsburgh Health Corps (PHC) is to increase healthy behavior and access to health services by enhancing the capacity of community organizations in Allegheny County while fostering members’ pursuit of health-related careers, civic involvement and a life-long commitment to service.

Through community partnerships and collaborations, the PHC addresses the compelling community need of reducing health disparities that exist among racial and ethnic groups in medically underserved communities through member daily service activities and at monthly service projects and training events.

For the 2014-15 grant year, the Pittsburgh Health Corps is collaborating with 15 community based agencies that will provide 18 members with a service learning experience. This service learning experience will expose the members to diverse opportunities in public health while addressing unmet community healthcare needs.
