Refugee Resource Center provides direct assistance, resources, and client-focused advocacy and support for Iowa's refugee community. We connect refugees to the resources and education they need to attain self-sufficiency and integration into the community.
We are a group of individuals who came together around our passion for helping refugees and our understanding of the gaps in services and supports for them. Combined, we represent an inter-faith, interdisciplinary and intercultural alliance committed to letting the needs of the refugee community drive our work and advocacy efforts.
We use a team-based approach to listen and determine refugee needs, then develop plans that go beyond solving current problems to developing greater self-sufficiency for our clients. We partner with a variety of organizations in central Iowa that work with a particular population, group, offer a specific program or support for a specific time period. Much of our work is navigation and advocacy: we provide immediate assistance and connect clients to other organizations who specialize in particular areas of need. Most importantly, our clients' needs drive the nature and focus of our work.
