Description

Develop compelling narratives to transform the food system

The Good Food Institute (GFI) is a nonprofit think tank working to make the global food system better for the planet, people, and animals. Alongside scientists, businesses, and policymakers, GFI’s teams focus on making plant-based, fermentation-enabled, and cultivated meat delicious, affordable, and accessible. Powered by philanthropy, GFI is an international network of organizations advancing alternative proteins as an essential solution needed to meet the world’s climate, global health, food security, and biodiversity goals.

How You Will Make a Difference

At GFI, you will work with Corporate Engagement’s (CE) team of analysts and engagement leads to generate industry narratives and deliverables for our audiences. You will build GFI’s reputation as a data-driven think tank and open-access resource hub for companies up and down the alternative protein supply chain. You will synthesize information, data, and expertise into actionable insights and deliverables tuned to specific audiences. You will grow, strengthen, and maintain CE’s key messages, core resources, newsletter suite, and slide deck content, equipping the team with a content toolkit that is accessible, user-friendly, and constantly updated. You will also co-own our team’s editorial calendar, provide editorial review and cohesion to our resources and other short- and long-form content, and develop key new resources showcasing the expertise of our subject-matter experts.

The Corporate Engagement Content Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Interpreting data and analysis and leveraging CE content and subject matter expertise to write key deliverables, including reports, whitepapers, and factsheets.
  • Managing, drafting, curating, organizing, and updating the Corporate Engagement team’s suite of external resources and content.
  • Synthesizing data into effective visualizations and graphics for reports and presentations.
  • Maintaining a strategy for and drafting CE’s suite of newsletters targeting different corporate audiences to highlight industry news and developments.
  • Developing, organizing, and managing updates of CE’s slide deck content, including new slide creation, data visualization, and creating template and starter decks.
  • Owning, drafting, and developing systems for CE key messages and talking points across topics and audiences, and liaising with the Communications team on messaging initiatives.
  • Supporting corporate engagement audience leads on content for engagement strategies, channel strategies, and audience-specific promotional activities across audiences.
  • Collaborating with CE team members to develop the content schedule across CE-owned channels, including event, webinar, and resource content.
  • Developing robust reporting KPIs and dashboards to track resource engagement, including setting goals and coordinating promotions activity to meet them.
  • Acting as CE’s in-house copy editor, graphic reviewer, and deck creator.
  • Liaising with the Communications team on messaging, writing, and graphics needs, as well as coordinating resource development and promotion.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Who We’re Looking For

An ideal candidate for the Corporate Engagement Content Specialist position will have experience that reflects the following:

  • A degree in a related field is preferred (e.g., English, communications, marketing, or business) and at least three years of experience in writing, communications, or marketing.
  • Exceptional writing, analysis, and synthesis skills.
  • A strong command of data interpretation and visualization, including slide deck design and production, and building charts and graphics in PowerPoint and Google Slides.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach that brings the CE team together around a persuasive industry messaging strategy.
  • Ability to orchestrate many details simultaneously while maintaining focus on broader project goals.
  • Proven project management experience across multiple types of projects.
  • A command of tools key to CE functioning, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Workspace. Bonus for familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Salesforce, Asana, and Zoom for webinars.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and to building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels like they belong.
  • Comfort working remotely and in a rapidly growing and evolving organization.
  • Strong support for GFI’s philosophy and mission; demonstrated interest in plant-based & other alt proteins, public health, environmentalism, climate change, animal protection, or hunger relief.
  • A commitment to GFI’s values: believe change is possible, do the most good we can, share knowledge freely, act on evidence, and invite everyone to the table.

We want the best people and we don’t want biases holding us back. We use a third-party anonymizing tool to redact personal information from submitted applications — including name, location, contact details, and several other factors — to reduce bias and increase fairness in our process. We strongly encourage people of every race, color, orientation, age, gender, origin, and ability to apply. Since we value a diverse workplace, we prioritize an inclusive climate absent of discrimination and harassment during the application process and after you join the team.

Research indicates that men tend to apply for jobs when they meet just 60% of the criteria, while women and people from other marginalized groups only apply if they are a 100% match. If you are passionate about GFI’s mission and think you have what it takes to be successful in this role even if you don’t check all the boxes, please apply. We’d appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.
