Description

About TIPS

Teens In Public Service (TIPS) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to developing youth leadership by providing paid community service summer internship opportunities at local nonprofits. TIPS runs this annual summer program serving 75+ high school aged interns and 60+ nonprofit partners, complementing it by year-round development initiatives and seasonal events.  Over the last 26 summers, TIPS has produced over 220,000 hours of service and supported 240+ nonprofit organizations, with the help of a strong network of alumni, volunteers, an active board, and engaged community partners.  TIPS is governed by a 12-member board of directors, has a staff of three (3), and the projected FY 2024 budget is approximately $600k.  The Executive Director must reside in the greater Seattle area.

The Role

As TIPS prepares for its next stage of growth, building upon 26 successful years including record breaking internship cohorts over the past 2 years, we seek a seasoned nonprofit leader with experience in nonprofit expansion and capacity building to support sustainable, impact-oriented development of the TIPS program and mission. The Executive Director is responsible for overall TIPS operations including financial management, programming oversight, human resources administration, communications, fundraising,  and donor development.  The Executive Director works closely alongside the TIPS Board of Directors to steward the mission and vision of TIPS to ensure transformative work experiences for youth interns, maintaining a strong reputation of positive outcomes for our nonprofits and other community partners.

This position is full time, in a hybrid work setting with two to three (2-3) days expected in-person at the TIPS office in Seattle, and occasional evening and weekend work. The Executive Director works closely with, and reports to, the TIPS Board of Directors, and will supervise two (2) full time staff.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated and inspirational team leader with demonstrated achievements in the nonprofit sector, specifically around youth leadership development, strategic partnerships, major gifts, and operational scaling.  TIPS seeks an authentic, community minded connector who is passionate about young people, as well as the role of public service in solving our most persistent social problems.  This individual will have expertise in leading teams with purpose, serving with operational efficacy, and an intentional approach to creating, directing, and managing fundraising and development initiatives.
