About the Role

Hope Chicago is seeking a Digital Community Manager to join the communications team. Under the direction and support of the Communications Director, the Digital Community Manager will support various direct digital communications with Hope Scholars and Hope Chicago’s partners in service of Hope Chicago’s mission and strategic plan. Concentrated mainly within Hope Chicago’s App, the Digital Community Manager will be responsible for the creation and distribution of core programmatic content to support Hope Chicago’s Student Success Requirements and strengthen the greater Hope Chicago identity. 

A successful candidate must have a personal passion for and a professional commitment to equitable access to learning opportunities and resources for young people. The Digital Community Manager must be able to meaningfully connect with and support young people in digital and live spaces—leveraging data to understand Hope Scholar’s behaviors and experiences as well as foster meaningful digital connections.   

Role Description

The Digital Community Manager will primarily: 

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Hope Chicago Digital Community (i.e. the Hope Chicago app), including, but not limited to: 
  • Responding to direct communications from Hope Scholars 
  • Managing Hope Scholar account credentials and permissions for the Digital Community  
  • Supporting Hope Scholars’ completion of various learning modules and other content located in the Digital Community 
  • Authoring and publishing content, activities and events, push notifications, reminders, etc. to Hope Scholars, both overall and on a cohort- or institution-specific basis.    
  • Manage the backend of Hope Chicago’s Digital Community platform to ensure real-time data and insights on the experiences of Hope Scholars are being reported and shared with Hope Chicago’s program team
  • Support campus-based liaisons at each postsecondary institution to use the Hope Chicago App—grow Hope Scholar engagement and help with Hope Scholars transition into postsecondary space at various partner institutions.  
  • Identify compelling Hope Scholar stories to be amplified to support Hope Chicago’s development and coalition-building goals. 
  • Designing and publishing new community material(s) including new course(s) for Hope Scholars over SY24-25 and beyond.
  • Support direct texting campaigns with Hope Scholars, partners, and other stakeholders 
  • Other similar duties, as assigned. 

Qualifications and Competencies

Exceptional candidates will:

  • Possess at least 2 years of experience managing and operating a Learning Management System (LMS),  and/or digital community/digital customer service platform. Preference for past experience within higher education/academic communities.  
  • Have experience working directly with students in higher education and/or high school academic settings (preferred); 
  • Have experience synthesizing data and reporting mission critical insights that inform strategic decision-making. 
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree (preferred);
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred);
  • Demonstrate a strong command of text and tone when writing in digital spaces.
  • Have experience working with and managing unique workstreams across multiple stakeholders/partners.
  • Demonstrate a proficient command of digital content creation such as photos, graphic design, video, etc. (preferred):
  • Have experience with Salesforce
