Who We Seek

The Hispanic Federation seeks a Civic Engagement Program Manager to oversee civic engagement initiatives in North Carolina. The Manager will play a leading role in implementing voter registration, voter education, and Get Out the Vote efforts in Charlotte, NC and the surrounding areas. The position will provide natural opportunities to learn and will require the ability to remain flexible and adaptable regarding work assignments.

The successful candidate will have experience with voter engagement and understand the importance of community outreach and GOTV efforts. Additionally, they will understand program management, experience managing budgets and expenses, and have had some supervisory experience of canvassers in a field environment. The ideal candidate will have supported NC GOTV campaigns.


Position Location: Charlotte, NC

Reports to: Director of NC and Midsouth Operations and the National Director for Civic Engagement

Status: Full Time, Regular through November 2024, with the possibility for extension


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage Hispanic Federation's civic participation initiatives in Charlotte and Eastern NC – including the development and overseeing of strategies for registering eligible Latino voters. 
  • Oversee HF voter registration, voter education, and Get Out the Vote programs, supervise Canvass Directors and build community relationships to meet goals. 
  • Utilize Civic Engagement digital technology and databases, including the Voter Activation Network (VAN), and peer-to-peer and robo-texting messaging tools. 
  • Monitor state and local government, support the writing of briefing papers, position statements, etc. 
  • Serve as an advocate and HF representative in policy forums, coalition meetings, including potentially providing testimony before legislative and regulatory bodies. 
  • Cultivate key relationships and partnerships with community leaders and community-based organizations in the Hispanic Federation’s network. 
  • Assist with other Hispanic Federation events and initiatives. 

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of a BA/BS degree and at least two years of professional experience, preferably in civic engagement program services, advocacy or community organizing 
  • Excellent, well-developed verbal and writing skills are essential 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills and a demonstrated commitment to Latino community are necessary 
  • Experience working in Civic Engagement Campaigns 
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers 
  • Ideal applicants will be efficient, results-oriented with high energy and exhibit an exceptional ability to work with others
