Description

SUMMARY

The American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee (ACLU-TN) is hiring two (2) administrative professionals to join its new People and Operations team. The ideal candidates will be patient, agile, and outcome-focused. As an Operations Associate, you will work under the supervision of the Director of People and Operations and be responsible for creating, maintaining, and managing core workflows of the organization. In addition, you will provide administrative support to operational and programmatic leadership activities. This role is perfect for anyone interested in increasing efficiency, transparency, and collaboration.

The Operations Associates role is based in Nashville, TN, a rapidly growing city with a rich history in social justice and a fantastic music, arts, culture, and food scene. The staff works in a hybrid environment, and candidates from outside Tennessee will be considered for this position. However, it is essential to note that relocation to the state and working out of the Nashville office are critical parts of the role. This is a full-time, exempt salaried position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain positive, supportive, professional working relationships with colleagues, board members, and partners to support the organization’s mission and vision.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the organization by coordinating phone, mail, and email inquiries and coordinating with the appropriate staff for follow-up.
  • Create, maintain, and manage operational and programmatic supportive workflows, including—but not limited to—purchase orders, mail pick-up and correspondence distribution, travel support, file and data management, and event support.
  • Coordinate internal meeting logistics (in-person and virtual), including scheduling agendas, taking minutes, providing readouts, and setting up equipment.
  • Take the lead in coordinating special projects assigned to the People and Operations team.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of People and Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates will possess many of the following qualifications. If you are excited about the position but unsure that you are qualified, we encourage you to apply.

  • Demonstrated support of ACLU’s mission and values.
  • Bachelor's degree or experience coordinating scaling non-profit or business operations and supporting senior-level executives and board of directors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a desire to work on a mission-driven team that is EDIB-focused and collaborates effectively across organizational functional teams and partners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Suite and web-based research.
  • Experience with Asana, QuickBooks Online, Salesforce, or a similar software-as-a-service platform is a plus.
  • A valid driver’s license with the ability to occasionally work beyond 9 to 5, including some weekends, and to travel throughout Tennessee as needed.
  • Sense of humor

COMPENSATION

Operations Associates receive a starting salary of $60,000. New team members also receive excellent benefits, including a $5k wellness adjustment, 100% employer premium-paid medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance; a 401(k) Plan including up to 5.5% employer contribution; and paid sick, vacation, and holiday leave.
