About Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago ("Charities" or "CCAC") was founded more than a century ago to meet human need through the Mission of Charity. We are called to partner with mission-driven people and organizations across Cook and Lake counties, to witness a message of mercy and hope to a world in need, as we:
As the largest human services provider in our region, we serve thousands daily -- opening our arms to all who come to our doors. We accompany anyone in need, regardless of their faith, gender, race, or ethnicity. We are proud that our community -- the people we serve and the people we employ and partner with -- represents a broad range of faith traditions and backgrounds, including those who have none. What binds us is unity around our calling, purpose, and shared values.
About our WIC Food and Nutrition Centers
For more than 30 years, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago has partnered with the Illinois Department of Human Services to serve moms, caregivers, infants, and children through neighborhood-based centers that offer 100% WIC- approved products. Today, thousands of families access healthy food, formula, and wraparound supports in 15 under-resourced communities across Chicago. This mom-centered model simplifies the shopping experience and helps to alleviate common barriers WIC participants experience, including stigma in retail grocery stores, challenges finding WIC-approved products, and learning how to successfully navigate the system and utilize their benefits. Catholic Charities’ WIC centers serve nearly 60,000 people annually, most of whom live on Chicago’s South and West Sides.
