The Director of Policy and Regulatory Affairs will be a key member of the Government Relations team, supporting ANCOR’s government relations through public policy and regulatory analysis.
As the Director of Policy and Regulatory Affairs, you’ll spend your days carrying out the responsibilities below:
Application Period (Friday, March 29 – Friday, April 19) Upon submission of your application and before sharing your application with the hiring manager, the hiring coordinator, our Director of Education and Intersectional Collaboration, will remove all references to your name (including your email address), mailing address, educational institutions you attended, previous organizations where you worked and any other information that they believe will result in triggering an implicit-bias reaction based on your identity or affiliations. As a result, the best applications describe a candidate’s skills and their application at current and previous positions that led to successful organizational outcomes.
Initial Review Period (Monday, April 22– Wednesday, April 24) Thirty applications will advance to the hiring manager once the “for best consideration” application deadline has passed. Suppose there are more than 30 applications for consideration. In that case, Human Resources will narrow the initial pool on behalf of the hiring manager. Most often, this process is not needed. Applications submitted after this date may be reviewed if a failed search has occurred with the candidates in the initial applicant pool.
Skills Assessment Round (Thursday, April 25 – Monday, April 29 Midnight PST) The hiring manager will select ten eligible applicants to advance to a skill demonstration round. The hiring coordinator will contact eligible candidates and provide them with a skills assessment. The skills assessment responses will not be used as or considered ANCOR work product. Also, the expectation is that the assessment shall not exceed an hour and a half of dedicated time. Candidates will have at least three business days to complete the assessment exercise. At the end of the three business days, the hiring coordinator will forward all completed skills assessments to the hiring team.
Virtual Panel Interview Invitation (Monday, May 6) The hiring manager will select five applicants to advance to a panel interview. The hiring coordinator will contact each candidate to schedule the interview, which will occur the following week. Questions will be provided in advance to all candidates for their review. All candidates will receive the same questions.
Virtual Panel Interviews Conducted (Thursday, May 9-Monday, May 13) The panel interview will be composed of no more than five individuals, including, Lydia Dawson, Vice President of Government Relations, Sasha Sencer, Director of Education & Intersectional Collaboration, Elise Aguilar, Director of Federal Relations, Noah Block, Advocacy Manager, and Donna Martin, Vice President, State Partnerships & Innovation.
Finalists Contacted (Tuesday, May 14) The hiring manager will select three candidates to advance to a final interview.
Final Round Virtual Interviews (Thursday May 16 – Monday, May 20) The candidates will be in a discussion format and will be composed of Lydia Dawson, Vice President of Government Relations, Barbara Merrill, Chief Executive Officer, and Brennan Liming, Finance & Human Resources Assistant (serving as the human resources representative who will be helping draft, deliver, negotiate, and close the offer). Note: In the event of an exceptionally strong and competitive candidate pool, candidates may be invited to our home office in Alexandria, Virigina at the association’s expense for an in-person conversation.
Please click on the application form, read the instructions carefully, and complete the application to be considered for this opportunity. For best consideration, please apply by Friday, April 19. If you have any questions, please email Brennan Liming (bliming@ancor.org) the hiring coordinator for this position.
