The Victim Advocacy Program (VAP) under Prince George’s Hospital Sexual Assault Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting victims of sexual violence. It helps survivors, women, children and men, through the complex legal system offering crisis intervention, on-call companionship, court and police-interview accompaniment as well as resource referrals, assistance in understanding victim rights, determining eligibility of victim compensation, and composing victim-impact statements. VAP is committed to increasing the reporting of sexual violence and its conviction rate by helping each victim regain their sense of power and control over their lives.
