The mission of the Department of Population Health Science and Policy at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, is to develop, analyze, and disseminate evidence that can guide decision-making and policy toward improvements in health and more effective, efficient and equitable health care. Our unique research mission bridges the traditional division among bench science, clinical medicine, public health and health care policy.
The Department's vision is to expand our portfolio of internationally recognized research that shapes important public and private policies, affects treatment paradigms, reduces disparities in health care, and develops new analytical approaches and methodological breakthroughs.
The Department has built a sizable portfolio of research that is both timely and enduring. The aim of this research is not only to produce outstanding peer-reviewed studies, but also to conduct research that affects treatment paradigms, increases equity, and shapes policy.
