About Us

The WRI's Center for Sustainable Transport/EMBARQ Mexico (CTS-Mexico) is a non-profit, Mexican, civil association whose mission is to catalyze sustainable mobility solutions that improve the quality of life in Mexican cities. The urban mobility model adopted by a majority of medium and large Mexican cities has created urgent and pressing challenges for Mexico with respect to the optimal use of scarce resources, including natural, environmental and economic resources, time, space, energy and public health. The fundamental objective of CTS/EMBARQ-Mexico is to advance the development of mobility systems that achieve the following:

1. Reduction in emissions of local criteria pollutants;

2. Reduction in emissions of greenhouse gases;

3. Improvement in the quality and cost-effectiveness of urban transport systems;

4. Improvement in accessibility, traffic safety and public security; and,

5. Improvement in the quality of public space.
