Organization Overview:

Night Owl Reconnaissance is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting law enforcement agencies with missing person cases. Our mission is to provide support, resources, and assistance to help bring missing individuals home safely. Night Owl Reconnaissance is committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those affected by missing person incidents.

Purpose of the Young Professionals Board:

Night Owl Reconnaissance is seeking highly motivated and visionary individuals who reside in the Greater St. Louis, MO area to serve as volunteer members of our Young Professionals Board. The Young Professionals Board members will serve as active participants in fundraising activities and event planning, and contribute expertise and insights to board discussions. Board members will use their diverse professional backgrounds to identify potential donors and supporters in an effort to further Night Owl Reconnaissance’s mission.

The board is tasked with the below:

Fundraising and Resource Development: The Young Professionals Board spearheads fundraising efforts and initiatives to secure essential financial resources for Night Owl Reconnaissance. Through innovative strategies and collaborative partnerships, board members work diligently to raise funds that support the organization's programs and services.

Community Engagement and Awareness: By leveraging their networks and expertise, board members actively engage with the community to raise awareness about missing person cases and the critical role of Night Owl Reconnaissance. Through advocacy, outreach, and educational initiatives, the board strives to mobilize support and foster a sense of solidarity within the community.

Leadership and Advocacy: As emerging leaders in their respective fields, board members play a pivotal role in advocating for the needs and priorities of Night Owl Reconnaissance. Through strategic leadership and advocacy efforts, the board champions the organization's mission, values, and impact, amplifying its reach and influence within the community and beyond.

Professionals Development and Networking: The Young Professionals Board provides a platform for members to enhance their leadership skills, expand their professional networks, and contribute to meaningful causes. Through potential collaborative projects, training opportunities, and mentorship initiatives, board members may gain valuable experience and insights that benefit their personal and professional growth.

Sustainability and Long-Term Impact: By fostering a culture of philanthropy, innovation, and collaboration, the Young Professionals Board plays a pivotal role in ensuring the long-term sustainability and success of Night Owl Reconnaissance. Through strategic planning, stewardship, and accountability, board members work diligently to uphold the organization's values and drive positive change in the lives of those affected by missing person incidents.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience within the last 5-10 years.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage and inspire diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic planning and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes and impact.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, fostering inclusivity, respect, and mutual support.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Night Owl Reconnaissance, with a passion for making a difference in the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects with efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct.

Commitment:

  • Membership Dues: A monthly donation that can be paid by or on behalf of the Young Professionals Board member.
  • Time: Contribute up to 5 hours per week on average and up to 4 monthly meetings (1 in-person meeting and 3 virtual meetings).

Positions Available:

General Board Member

  • Participate in Young Professionals Board events, meetings, and engagements to raise awareness and promote the organization's mission.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners to enhance fundraising opportunities and support.
  • Provide research support to identify new avenues of fundraising, technology enablement, potential donors, and marketing strategies, etc.
  • Assist with organization, and process improvement and implementation during the initial phases of Board activity for operational effectiveness and continuity. 
  • Manage miscellaneous internal or external projects as assigned.

President

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Young Professionals Board.
  • Collaborate with organizational leadership to align board initiatives with the overall mission and goals of Night Owl Reconnaissance.
  • Oversee and coordinate fundraising activities, events, and campaigns to generate financial support for the organization.
  • Represent the Young Professionals Board at public events, meetings, and engagements to raise awareness and promote the organization's mission.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and accountability among board members.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners to enhance fundraising opportunities and support.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and financial standards in all board activities and initiatives.
  • Regularly report on the progress, achievements, and challenges of the Young Professionals Board to organizational leadership.

Vice President

  • Assist the President in leading the Young Professionals Board and executing its strategic vision and initiatives.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the President in their absence and act as a liaison between the board and organizational leadership.
  • Strategic Planning and Decision-Making.
  • Collaborate with board members to develop and implement strategic plans, goals, and objectives aligned with the organization's mission and priorities.
  • Contribute to decision-making processes and provide insights and recommendations to enhance the effectiveness and impact of board activities.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and inclusivity among board members, promoting open communication, mutual respect, and accountability.
  • Lead and support board committees, working groups, and task forces as needed to address specific priorities and initiatives.
  • Play an active role in fundraising efforts and campaigns, leveraging personal networks and resources to secure financial support for Night Owl Reconnaissance.
  • Collaborate with the President, Treasurer, and other board members to identify fundraising opportunities, cultivate donor relationships, and steward donor contributions.
  • Engage with stakeholders, community partners, and supporters to raise awareness about Night Owl Reconnaissance's mission, programs, and impact.
  • Advocate for the organization's priorities and initiatives within the community, fostering relationships and partnerships that advance its goals and objectives.

Treasurer

  • Manage the financial affairs of the Young Professionals Board, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Budget Development and Monitoring.
  • Work collaboratively with board members to develop annual budgets, financial projections, and fundraising plans that support the organization's strategic priorities and objectives.
  • Monitor budget performance, track revenue and expenses, and provide regular updates and reports to the board on financial status and trends.
  • Fundraising and Revenue Generation.
  • Lead efforts to identify, cultivate, and solicit financial support from donors, sponsors, and other funding sources to sustain and expand Night Owl Reconnaissance's programs and services.
  • Collaborate with the President, Vice President, and other board members to execute fundraising initiatives and campaigns, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Assess financial risks and opportunities facing the organization, providing strategic insights and recommendations to mitigate risks and optimize financial performance.
  • Develop and implement strategies to diversify revenue streams, enhance financial sustainability, and maximize the impact of financial resources.
  • Serve as a fiduciary steward of Night Owl Reconnaissance's resources, exercising prudent financial management and oversight to safeguard assets and uphold the organization's mission and values.
  • Ensure transparency, accountability, and integrity in all financial transactions, reporting, and decision-making processes.

Marketing Coordinator

  • Devise marketing plans and manage public relations for Young Professionals Board events and fundraising initiatives.
  • Create social media marketing approaches to encourage engagement and raise awareness of Night Owl Reconnaissance’s mission. 
  • Develop promotional materials for fundraising events.
  • Collaborate with Night Owl Reconnaissance’s Director of Social Media for continuity and branding in external marketing.

Membership Director

  • Spearhead recruitment efforts for vacant positions in collaboration with Night Owl Reconnaissance’s Director of Recruitment.
  • Maintain a database of interested candidates to utilize during open recruitment cycles.
  • Ensure a positive Board experience and regular engagement of Board members.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among Board members.
  • Devise strategies to encourage recurring donors and supporters of Night Owl Reconnaissance.
  • Participate in Young Professionals Board events, meetings, and engagements to raise awareness and promote the organization's mission.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners to enhance fundraising opportunities and support.
