About us:

GSSYA (Global Share Support Youth Association) is a non-profit organization focused on enhancing the skill and lifestyle development of young individuals and building a multicultural community to promote personal and professional growth. GSSYA creates a foundation for youth to build their leadership and communication skills and provides free tutoring to support kids in their education, employment, career development, and mental health. 

Purpose:

GSSYA is providing high school students and adult volunteers the opportunity to provide free tutoring services for students grades 1 - 11 on a one-on-one basis. The tutor subjects include: 

  • English, Mathematics, French, Science, Chinese, Painting, Physical, Music (instrument, theory), Chess, debate, Art etc
  • Free Leadership program, the tutor chooses this program to get leadership ability training and volunteer experience with volunteer hours

All tutors will be trained on how the tutoring system works and will be required to create your own lesson plan and homework for your assigned student.

The tutoring takes place every Saturdays at 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM through zoom.

Experience:

  • Previous on-the-job tutoring is an asset
  • Very good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Knowledge of general office practices, procedures and standards
