Barista Training Summer Program

Support youth this Summer! I invite you to attend orientation at Chicago Urban Art Retreat Center. We begin each Saturday with an orientation at 1p.m. followed by staff meeting of volunteers from 2-4p.m. Our organization is run by volunteers.

Between 2-4 each week in April and May we will plan and organize the summer program. We will take one of those weekends to build a structure for our summer cafe.

We plan to register youth by mid-June who we will train to work in an open cafe as barista. Youth will have work skills and experience by the end of summer, plus a certificate and references along with a resume. They will be able to get jobs during high school and college. Some will use the information on becoming an entrepreneur to open their own business. Youth are welcoem to register now!

You can be a part of this process by being a volunteer in this program. We will train the adult volunteers too. Adults will work alongside the youth and mentor them. PLEASE RSVP to attend orientation and stay for the staff mtg.
