    Position Summary

    HSN is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Grants Monitoring Coordinator to ensure sub-recipient compliance across multiple housing and homelessness-related grants. This role is responsible for developing and implementing monitoring for sub-recipient agencies, supporting compliance through training and documentation, and partnering with the Director of Grants Administration to strengthen contract performance and outcomes. This position plays a key role in optimizing service delivery through thoughtful oversight and continuous improvement.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and manage internal grant monitoring policies and infrastructure.
    • Conduct formal monitoring visits with each sub-recipient at least twice per year, providing timely feedback and support.
    • Draft and track corrective action plans, ensuring measurable progress.
    • Ensure contract compliance with local, state, and federal grant requirements.
    • Collaborate with staff to improve sub-recipient contracts and embed clear deliverables and performance metrics.
    • Partner with the Director of Grants Administration and other team members to support procurement, RFPs, and compliance training.
    • Design monitoring tools that build sub-recipient capacity and promote sustained compliance.
    • Document findings and maintain accurate records in accordance with funder expectations.
    • Contribute to invoicing and reporting systems that align with both internal and funder monitoring processes.
    • Prepare reports and updates on grant status for internal leadership and external audits.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • Interest and passion about HSN’s mission with the ability to promote and communicate HSN’s philosophy, mission and values to external and internal stakeholders.
    • Familiarity with homelessness, poverty, housing, mental health, recovery and human services.
    • Strong relationship builder and communicator with a customer service focus.
    • Ability to learn, understand and adhere to grant funder guidelines, policies and procedures.
    • Experience with HUD, SSVF, DCF, VA, State and local jurisdiction funding is a plus.
    • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • A bachelor's degree in accounting, Human Services, Public Administration, or related field; or equivalent background with five (5) years of compliance/grant administration in a nonprofit setting or financial auditing.
    • Knowledge of and experience working with grant contracts, creating monitoring processes and procedures, HMIS, Salesforce and other spreadsheets and databases.
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and computer usage to include email, internet and presentations.
    • Knowledge of contract language and the monitoring process of sub-recipients as well as internal monitoring.
    • Have reliable transportation to the HSN Office.

    Work Environment

    The employee will work as part of a team, as well as, interface with agencies and funders. The employee will spend significant portions of time in the office setting. This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week. Additional hours are occasionally required. Work generally occurs Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. This position cannot be performed fully remotely.
