LGBTQ+ Assoc. Far exists to help queer and trans people, especially those fleeing hostile conditions, move toward safety through practical guidance, community support, information access, and grassroots mutual aid.

LGBTQ+ Assoc. Far ("FAR") is a Barcelona based association built to support queer and trans people seeking safety, stability, and practical guidance, with an initial focus on U.S. citizens and residents pursuing relocation or asylum related pathways in Spain. The organization is rooted in lived experience and designed to bridge the gap between formal institutions and the real, day to day needs of people navigating fear, displacement, bureaucracy, and survival.

FAR's core purpose is to help vulnerable LGBTQI+ individuals access clearer information, stronger community support, and more practical tools for reaching safety. In its early stage, FAR focuses on resource navigation, community based guidance, volunteer coordination, digital information tools, public facing educational materials, and communications infrastructure. Over time, it aims to expand into stronger partnerships, fundraising support, multilingual tools, and broader advocacy.

A defining principle of the organization is that much of its work is powered through crowdsourcing, not only in fundraising, but in storytelling, resource collection, content development, volunteer engagement, and mutual aid. FAR is built on the principle of queers helping queers, with community participation embedded into the model rather than treated as an afterthought.

"Far," meaning lighthouse in Catalan, reflects both guidance and distance: safety can feel far away, but it must still remain visible. Our organization exists to provide a beacon of hope and help people move toward that light.
