    Description

    We are thrilled to announce the launch of Illinois Finance Authority/Climate Bank (“IFA/CB” or “Authority”) 2025 Annual IFA/CB Internship Program (“IFACB-AIP”)!

    Do you want to use finance to promote economic development, combat climate change, reduce the cost of debt in a manner that benefits residents across the State of Illinois and reflects the diversity across the Land of Lincoln? Do you have the motivation and desire to learn and apply your skills to assist a small, growing, and talented team at the forefront of climate finance? The Authority created the IFACB-AIP to provide practical, hands-on opportunities for motivated, dedicated, and high-achieving recent graduates from, and current students enrolled in, accredited undergraduate and graduate school programs to gain valuable experience across a broad spectrum of functional areas within the Authority:

    Functional Areas

    • Public Finance
    • Information Technology
    • Economic Development
    • Legal
    • The Climate Bank
    • Finance & Administration
    • Procurement
    • Internal Controls and Audit

    Multiple Federal Grant Programs

    These federal programs and funds, which were congressionally approved and lawfully awarded to the Authority, encompass a significant number of programs, grants, and projects designed to generate: (1) favorable environmental outcomes (i.e., access to cost-effective clean renewable energy); (2) economic benefits (i.e., lower energy bills especially for environmental justice and disadvantaged communities); and (3) lower the cost of debt for borrowers across the Land of Lincoln.

    The IFACB-AIP is an excellent opportunity for detail-oriented, mature, passionate, driven, and curious individuals to gain hands-on experience, grow professionally, and work alongside industry experts. Within a team-oriented work environment, the new 2025 intern cohort will embark on a variety of significant programs and projects within Authority.

    What the IFACB-AIP Offers:

    • Real-world projects, challenges, and opportunities to help generate positive economic benefits (e.g., lower energy costs, investment in underserved communities, etc.) and favorable environmental outcomes (e.g., pursuit of a clean energy future, etc.)
    • Mentorship from a friendly and experienced team of professionals
    • A forum to build/expand your network
    • The opportunity to prepare an IFACB-AIP Completion Report and/or presentation summarizing the internship experience
    • Certificate upon successful completion of the IFACB-AIP

    Qualifications for the IFACB-AIP:

    The IFACB-AIP is eligible to current undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in accredited academic institutions or other related programs including junior colleges, or occupational and vocational programs with a focus on finance, economics, business administration, or liberal arts along with:

    • Exceptional writing skills
    • Detail-oriented, with the ability to engage and contribute to multiple activities/tasks
    • Excellent analytical skills and research abilities
    • Desire to learn and apply the fundamentals of financial analysis
    • Work well collaboratively and/or independently on assignments in a complete, accurate, transparent, and ethical manner
    • Enthusiasm for public service and environmental policy
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Excellent interpersonal communication abilities
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
    • Comfortable working independently and collaborating with professionals across sectors
    • Interest in state government processes and policy development
