Who We AreThe UVU Center for Social Impact (CSI) develops compassionate community leaders who collaborate on strategic social impact. What You'll Be Doing

The Program Director of Community Outreach manages an exciting portfolio of responsibilities that strengthens relationships between the CSI and students, faculty, staff, and community partners across three main areas:

1) Social Impact Pathways

• Supervise Social Impact Pathways Fellows and Their Programming
• Recruit, train, and supervise six Social Impact Pathways Fellows-student leaders who manage monthly pathways newsletters, skills-based workshops, podcast episodes, and Alternative Break trip leadership.
• Guide Fellows in coordinating meaningful student-facing programming that aligns with the six pathways of social impact and builds strategic relationships with community partners.
• Support Fellows in advancing interdisciplinary, applied learning initiatives that bridge campus and community needs.

2) Oversee Community Partnership Development and Signature Events

• Manage and maintain the community partner database and intake process, ensuring accurate and accessible records of partner organizations.
• Serve as the primary liaison for community partners, nonprofits, businesses, public agencies, and grassroots organizations, fostering mutually beneficial collaborations.
• Plan and oversee key partner-facing events, including the semesterly Social Impact Fair and the Social Impact Market, connecting students with opportunities for real-world impact.
• Promote and steward community engagement opportunities tied to the six pathways of social impact.

3) Coordinate Alternative Break Programming

• Design, plan, and implement Alternative Break trips, including weekend, fall break, and spring break experiences.
• Develop partnerships with community organizations to create ethical, meaningful, and educational trip experiences.
• Oversee all trip logistics, including itinerary development, transportation, lodging, curriculum design, risk management, and participant preparation.
• Facilitate pre-trip orientations and post-trip reflections to support student growth, leadership development, and deeper pathway engagement.

Summary of Responsibilities

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Supervision of Social Impact Pathways Fellows & Pathways Programming: Recruit, train, and supervise six Social Impact Pathways Fellows, each assigned to one of the six pathways of social impact; Support Fellows in leading monthly pathways newsletters, skills-based workshops, and podcast episodes in collaboration with community partners; Oversee Fellows as they plan and lead Alternative Spring Break trips, ensuring alignment with ethical engagement practices and pathways learning goals; Mentor Fellows in developing strategic programming that fosters interdisciplinary learning and meaningful community collaboration and that develops them as compassionate community leaders.

Alternative Breaks Oversight and Development: Direct the coordination and implementation of Alternative Break trips, including fall and spring break experiences; Establish best practices for trip planning, student leader training, community partner collaboration, and risk management; Supervise and manage all trip planning logistics, including recruitment, transportation, food, lodging, and community partner communications; Facilitate pre- and post-trip orientations, trainings, and reflections, connecting experiences to pathways of social impact and long-term student development; Ensure trip programming reflects ethical, student-led, and community-informed engagement.

Social Impact Seminar Teaching & Development: Teach the one-credit Social Impact Seminar course, offering an introduction to the six pathways of social impact and real-world applications; Incorporate guest speakers and applied learning into the curriculum; Collaborate with faculty and departments to embed interdisciplinary approaches to social impact education across campus.

Community Partnerships Management and Event Coordination: Manage community partner database, intake process, and feedback and assessment; Serve as a primary point of contact for helping connect community partners with students, faculty, and Center initiatives; Lead planning and execution of partner-facing events, including the semesterly Social Impact Fairs and Social Impact Markets, as well as community partner socials, ensuring strong student-community connection points; Support community partner alignment with the six pathways of social impact and related student programs.

Carry out other duties necessary to the success of the programs and other projects within the Center for Social Impact, including assisting in executing events and office support

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Social Sciences, Nonprofit Management, Education, or related fields AND two years of work experience directly related to the summary of duties

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree preferred in Public Administration, Social Sciences, Nonprofit Management, Education, or related fields
• Two or more years of experience in higher education, community engaged learning, nonprofit work, community development, partnership development, student leadership development, or related field
• Experience in multiple pathways of social impact (Direct Service, Community Engaged Learning & Research, Social Entrepreneurship & Corporate Social Responsibility, Policy & Governance, Community Organizing & Activism, and Philanthropy)

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Knowledge

• Knowledge of and commitment to social impact, civic engagement work and direct service
• An understanding of the challenges to social impact work
• Knowledge of systems thinking, service-learning, community partner development, and/or student leadership programs
• Knowledge of Alternative Breaks
• Knowledge of the social impact pathways (Direct Service, Community Engaged Learning & Research, Social Entrepreneurship & Corporate Social Responsibility, Policy & Governance, Community Organizing & Activism, and Philanthropy)
