    Job Description

    Position Overview

    The Nurse Practitioner assesses and responds to the health needs of the student population at Sarah Lawrence College, providing a range of primary care services. This role works collaboratively with the Colleges contracted external physician and internal medical staff to ensure comprehensive care. The Nurse Practitioner exercises clinical judgment in diagnosing and managing health issues, offers health education, and makes referrals as needed to off-campus providers to promote student well-being.Schedule33 weeks a year (late August through mid-December and mid-January to mid-May).35 hours a week (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.)

    Essential Duties SummaryEssential Functions

    • Assess, diagnose, and treat illnesses and injuries following standardized clinical procedures.
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory work and imaging studies.
    • Manage the in-house formulary, including prescribing and dispensing medications and vaccines.
    • Document patient interactions and update medical records to reflect treatment plans and follow-up care.
    • Make referrals to external healthcare providers and ensure continuity of care for students.
    • Participate in Health & Wellness outreach initiatives to promote student engagement and health education.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Evaluate and order new medical products as needed for clinical operations.
    • Participate in regular staff meetings and continuing education to maintain professional certifications and licensure.
    • Collaborate with campus partners, including the Athletic Trainer and Residence Life, to coordinate care.
    • Maintain knowledge of federal, state and institutional policies, including OSHA, HIPAA and FERPA, to uphold confidentiality and data privacy standards.
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Physical and Cognitive Requirements

    • Moderately sedentary, involving periods of sitting and computer use.
    • Frequent verbal and written communication required.
    • Capacity to organize and synthesize detailed information to make clinical determinations.
    • Occasional walking/standing/use of medical equipment required.

    Required QualificationsRequired Qualifications

    • Masters degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
    • Valid New York State Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse licensure.
    • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of clinical experience, preferably in primary care or public health.
    • CPR and BLS for healthcare providers
    • DEA licensure for prescribing controlled substances.
    • Proficient in phlebotomy.
    • Proficiency in using electronic health records and Microsoft Office Suite.

    Preferred QualificationsPreferred Qualifications

    • Experience in a college health setting.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
