    Are you passionate about helping others in their most critical moments? We are looking for a compassionate professional to provide advocacy, support, education, and resource navigation for victims and their families in Clatsop County.

    The Child Advocacy Program Coordinator position is a partnership between The Lighthouse for Kids in Clatsop County and the Amani Center, Columbia County’s Child Advocacy Center.The position will be employed through the Amani Center but stationed in Clatsop County and providing support to the Clatsop Executive Director, in areas of child advocacy, forensic assessment and administrative tasks. This position will help enable both organizations to provide support services for child victims of crime, neglect, and abuse in Clatsop County. This role will also be trained to provide Intake and Victim advocacy support as needed as well as administrative functions to support the Executive Director and act in authority when designated during any absences.

    The position will be responsible to provide advocacy, support, education, system navigation, and resource referral for victims and their families/caregivers. This includes, but is not limited to, crisis intervention, safety planning, peer support, and needs assessments. The position will receive cross training as a Victim Advocate/Community Health Worker and help to address the social determinants of health for the child(ren) and their families/caregivers to ensure they have a foundation to begin healing and improve long term health and justice outcomes.

    In the Victim Advocate/Community Health Worker role, they provide support to the child and family pre, post and during the assessment process. Follow up services are provided as long as the family has need and throughout the criminal justice process. Often this process can take several years and the relationship built between the Victim Advocate/Community Health Worker can endure years after the initial intervention services are provided. The Victim Advocate/Community Health Worker helps families who request support even if there will not be a Forensic Assessment or criminal investigation.

    In both the Administrative and Victim Advocate/Community Health Worker role, this individual would also be responsible for identifying and building connections between other organizations and resources that can help support families and providing support and education to community partners.

    In the Administrative role, they will act as the primary point of contact for any administrative needs at The Lighthouse for Kids in Clatsop County.This includes coordinating and partnering with appropriate staff to respond to facilities, operations, and financial duties.

    This position requires regular attendance at the Clatsop county MDT Meetings and representing The Lighthouse for Kids and Amani Center at community meetings and events. This role will also have support and supervision through both organizations. Initial training in Victim Advocacy/Community Health Work will be provided through the Amani Center and may necessitate some travel to Columbia County.In addition, regular virtual attendance at team meetings and supervision check-in’s will occur with the Amani Center.

    The Clatsop County Child Advocacy Program Coordinator will work closely with the Lighthouse for Kids Executive Director and cross train to learn administrative and operational functions with the Lighthouse for Kids ED in Clatsop. All payroll, time off, benefits and other employment/personnel activities will be coordinated through the Amani Center.

    Requirements:

    • Any combination of education and relevant experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
    • Able to pass a comprehensive criminal and child welfare background check.
    • Proven ability to implement vision, think strategically, creatively problem solve, critically and innovatively, exercise good judgment and lead change.
    • Training/Experience in crisis (peer) counseling, child development and cultural diversity required.
    • Excellent organizational, writing, listening and communication skills
    • Able to perform work independently and as a part of a team
    • Computer skills such as Microsoft Office Suite
    • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality required
    • Able to respond professionally, effectively and in a compassionate manner during high crisis and/or high stress situations.
    • Strong relationship skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, the public, community partners, volunteers, courts and other agencies.
    • Able to adapt to rapid changes in processes and workflows in response to internal agency changes as well as changes in laws, guidelines and best practices
    • Ability to multitask and manage multiple competing deadlines and projects while responding to urgent needs of staff, clients and community partners.
