    Description

About 9to5: For over five decades, 9to5 has been at the forefront of advancing economic justice for women, centering our work through a racial and gender justice lens. As a grassroots, membership-based organization, our members are directly impacted by the issues we address every day: low-wage jobs, the erosion of the social safety net, the lack of paid sick time and paid family leave, unemployment, and workplace discrimination. Through grassroots organizing, leadership development, training, nonpartisan civic engagement, and policy change campaigns, we are building a movement to ensure economic security and dignity for all. Community Justice Fellows will gain hands-on experience in grassroots organizing, community engagement, and advocacy. This fellowship offers an opportunity to learn the intricacies of community-based work while actively supporting 9to5’s campaigns and programming.

Fellows will build meaningful relationships with community members while developing leadership and organizing skills.

As a Community Justice Fellow, you will contribute to advancing racial and gender justice by challenging systemic inequalities and promoting inclusive policies. You’ll play an active role in empowering communities through legislative advocacy and grassroots mobilization, as well as protecting our democracy by educating and engaging marginalized communities to use their voices for change.

Additionally, you will help strengthen Wisconsin's care infrastructure by advocating for crucial initiatives like Paid Family & Medical Leave and Affordable Childcare.

This is a 3-month fellowship, running from June 2 to August 29, 2025 (dates subject to change), requiring approximately 15 hours per week, with a stipend of $2000.

    • Ability to build and maintain relationships with community members, leaders, and partner organizations.
    • Willingness to engage in grassroots fieldwork, including but not limited to canvassing, phone banking, and tabling at events.

    • Construct and submit reports as assigned, documenting outreach activities, event participation, and reflections on learning.
