Position Summary
The Development Manager is a key leadership role responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive fundraising strategy along with the Executive Director to support ShareBaby’s mission and growth. This individual will work closely with the Executive Director, board members, and staff to expand revenue streams, deepen donor engagement, and elevate awareness around material insecurity.
The ideal candidate brings a strong fundraising background, creativity in donor engagement, experience in storytelling and strategic donor communications, and deep knowledge of Baltimore’s philanthropic landscape. Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Leadership
- In collaboration with the Executive Director, develop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy across individual, digital, corporate, foundation, and event-based giving
- Set and meet annual revenue targets; provide regular progress updates to the Executive Director and the board
- Identify and pursue new sources of philanthropic support, including institutional and corporate funders, and high-net-worth individuals
- Work collaboratively with staff to identify funding needs and develop budgets and narratives that align with programmatic goals
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
- Create and execute thoughtful, consistent stewardship processes to retain and grow individual donor relationships
- Develop innovative ways to engage donors and make them feel knowledgeable about ShareBaby’s ongoing work and the issue of material insecurity
- Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects, developing individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies
Event and Campaign Management
- Plan and execute fundraising events, site visits, and communications to demonstrate impact
- Develop strategy for annual fundraising campaigns
- Plan and execute monthly digital giving campaigns in partnership with the Communications Manager
- Spearhead the annual fundraising event by cultivating and securing sponsors, and overseeing ticket sales
- Organize and lead fundraising committees for fundraising events
Grants & Institutional Giving
- Research and identify potential philanthropic funders
- Partner with the Executive Director and program staff to write compelling grant proposals and reports
- Grant management: Track proposal deadlines and reporting requirements; follow up with funders in a timely and professional manner
Development Operations & Reporting
- Ensure integrity and accuracy across all donor records, financial reports, and Salesforce data
- Oversee and optimize the use of Salesforce as ShareBaby’s donor database and reporting tool
- Monitor and evaluate fundraising performance, identifying opportunities for improvement
Board & Organizational Partnership
- Partner with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to support fundraising efforts
- Engage and support board members and key volunteers in donor outreach and stewardship
- Collaborate with staff to align fundraising strategies with ShareBaby’s mission and organizational goals
Qualifications
- 5–7+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with demonstrated success in donor engagement, grant writing, and meeting revenue goals
- Proven record of setting and meeting fundraising budgets and performance targets
- Strong writing, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Knowledge of Baltimore’s philanthropic landscape and experience working within the Baltimore community is strongly preferred
- Experience creating stewardship strategies and designing donor engagement experiences
- Ability to think and write creatively, work independently, and thrive in a mission-driven, collaborative environment
- High level of attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in data and reporting
- Proficiency with Salesforce and Salesforce Marketing Cloud (formerly Pardot) for donor management, engagement, and reporting automation
Compensation & Benefits
- 40 hours per week on a flexible 9 am-5 pm schedule

Salary Range: $60,000-$65,000 with the possibility of an end-of-year bonus and performance bonus at annual performance evaluation
