    Organization Description:

    Since 1981, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (Parks Conservancy) has served as the nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, collaborating with the Presidio Trust, partners, donors, and the community to support the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). The GGNRA stretches across three Bay Area counties north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge and includes iconic places such as Muir Woods National Monument, Fort Point National Historic Site, Alcatraz Island, Crissy Field, Mori Point, Lands End, and the Presidio of San Francisco.

    The Parks Conservancy engages at the intersection of national park sites, local communities, social justice, and climate resilience.     Position Overview:

    The Parks Conservancy is looking for a dynamic, multi-talented Videographer & Photographer to capture the visual awe of the national park sites at the Golden Gate and amplify our work to protect and connect more people to these beloved and vital public lands.

    This position is for somebody who's passionate about compelling, high-quality imagery and video content, and equally passionate about storytelling. You'll attend park programs and events, listening deeply and connecting with park staff, visitors, and others to craft compelling storylines that capture the Parks Conservancy's impact. You'll craft long-form YouTube videos, photo galleries, and stories, and contribute to our large-format Gateways Magazine.

    The ideal candidate has an eye for capturing the moment—your photos and video are bright, colorful, active, and joyful. Please submit work samples with your application.

    This is an exempt, full-time, benefitted position. The schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday. The office location for this position is Fort Mason, San Francisco. Work is performed in both an office and outdoor setting.

    Reports To:Director of Communications

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Captures high-quality imagery at GGNRA park sites and Parks Conservancy events, with a focus on high-priority shoots—including those for publications, the website, Development collateral, Executive Management Team, Board of Trustees, and employee engagement events—in coordination with Communications and Marketing team needs across channels like YouTube, social media, print, and web.
    • As assigned, crafts long-form video content, manages video shoot logistics (such as audio and lighting), and editing final videos.
    • Collaborates with our Marketing team on imagery for integrated Marketing campaigns across channels, including product and promotional photo shoots.
    • Edits videos for YouTube, website, and marketing materials.
    • Writes captions for photos and video content.
    • Edits photos and tags imagery appropriately for photo database.
    • Partners with Development team to plan and execute an annual premium family portrait day for major donors, and photograph key fundraising and donor events quarterly, including Trails Forever and other high-visibility member gatherings.
    • Responds to photo requests from internal stakeholders and collaborates on shooting headshots for EMT and Board of Trustees photos.
    • Manages photo and video equipment inventory and proposes additional equipment as needed.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge and proficiency with different professional camera equipment, including DSLR cameras and lenses, lighting, and audio equipment.
    • Adept at video and photo content creation including lighting, equipment set-up, filming, audio capture, editing techniques, graphics, and final production.
    • Completes tasks in a timely manner with attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
    • Values diversity, treats others with respect, committed to an inclusive and open-minded work environment.
    • Ability to listen and develop trust with staff and program participants, leading to effective interviews and emotional imagery.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Preferred 3-5 years of directly applicable work experience and portfolio of photography and video samples.
    • Experience with professional photography and videography equipment. Experience operating drones for photography and video a plus.
    • Computer proficiency, especially with Adobe Creative Suite applications like Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Lightroom.
    • Experience editing photos and video and uploading to a photo database, including naming systems and tagging photo metadata.

    License: Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.

    Physical Requirements and Work Environments:

    • Work includes regular trips to the parks, with other work performed in an office setting.
    • Work is primarily performed sitting, standing, and/or walking.
    • Must be able to sit at a desk 6-8 hours per day.
    • Must be able to drive to park sites in San Mateo, San Francisco, and Marin counties, either in your own car or by driving a company vehicle.
    • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.

    Salary/Benefits:

    The salary for this position is $85,000/year (Grade 16). As part of our equitable hiring practices, The Parks Conservancy will hire at the salary posted for the position and will not make an offer above this level.
