The Animal Legal Defense Fund’s mission is to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system. The Animal Legal Defense Fund accomplishes this mission by filing high-impact lawsuits to protect animals from harm, providing free legal assistance and training to prosecutors to assure that animal abusers are held accountable for their crimes, supporting tough animal protection legislation and fighting legislation harmful to animals, and providing resources and opportunities to law students and professionals to advance the emerging field of animal law.
Role Description:
The Chief Advancement Officer will be responsible for all aspects of institutional fundraising, donor engagement, marketing and communications, advancement operations, and data management. The Chief Advancement Officer will design and execute effective strategies and processes and develop the infrastructure necessary to raise the organization’s visibility and reach strategic goals. The Chief Advancement Officer will work closely with the Senior Leadership team, the Board of Directors, and a dedicated team of fund development, marketing, and communications professionals to advance ALDF’s mission and goals. This position will lead and cultivate an advancement team, diversify and grow revenue streams, build robust systems and processes to fuel and sustain fund development, strengthen ALDF’s reputation and brand to amplify impact, deepen the fund development partnership with the Board of Directors, and collaborate with other members of the Senior Leadership team to support a health culture and achieve shared goals. The Chief Advancement Officer will be an experienced leader with deep knowledge and passion for the nonprofit sector and a nuanced and current understanding of relevant developments and dynamics impacting ALDF's mission. The CAO will approach their work with a learning mindset and have a demonstrated commitment to building strong, engaged, collaborative teams.

To ensure salary equity, we do not negotiate salary outside of the published starting rates. Rates are determined by role, using set geographical factors.
