    About the Herreshoff Marine Museum

    The Herreshoff Marine Museum (HMM) celebrates the legacy of the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company and its founders, Nathanael and John Brown Herreshoff, pioneers in yacht design and innovation. Located on the scenic waterfront of Bristol, Rhode Island, the museum houses a rich collection of historic yachts, artifacts, and exhibits. It is also home to the America’s Cup Hall of Fame and serves as an educational hub for maritime history and innovation.

    Position Overview

    The Marketing Manager will lead all marketing, communication, and public relations efforts to enhance the museum’s visibility, attract visitors, and build community engagement. This role involves strategizing and executing initiatives to grow membership, promote events, and increase overall public awareness of the museum’s offerings. The Marketing Manager will collaborate closely with the museum’s leadership team, staff, and external partners to align marketing goals with the museum’s mission and objectives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Marketing Strategy and Execution
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan to drive museum attendance, membership growth, and fundraising efforts.
    • Create and manage digital marketing campaigns, including social media, email newsletters, and online advertising.
    • Oversee the museum’s website, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, and optimized for search engines.
    • Plan and execute promotional strategies for exhibitions, programs, and special events.
    • Provide traffic management between staff and Graphic Design.

    Content Creation and Brand Management

    • Work in conjunction with Graphic Design Associate on the design and production of compelling content for print and digital platforms including brochures, flyers, blog posts, and videos.
    • Ensure consistent brand messaging across all channels and materials.
    • Act as the museum’s primary storyteller, showcasing its history, programs, and impact to a diverse audience.

    Community Engagement and Partnerships

    • Build relationships with media outlets, local businesses, and community organizations to promote museum initiatives.
    • Manage public relations efforts, including drafting press releases and coordinating media outreach.
    • Partner with educational institutions and tourism organizations to expand the museum’s reach.

    Data Analysis and Reporting

    • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of marketing initiatives.
    • Prepare reports for leadership and recommend adjustments to strategies based on data insights.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
    • 2-4 years of experience in marketing and project management, preferably in museums, non-profits, or cultural institutions.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in digital marketing tools, including social media platforms, email marketing software, and content management systems (CMS).
    • Familiarity with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing tools is a plus.
    • Experience with analytics platforms such as Google Analytics and social media insights.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
    • Passion for maritime history, boating, or museum work is a strong asset.
