    Associate Director, Illinois Team

    Location: Chicago, Illinois Office (Hybrid)

Candidates must live in and have established networks in the Chicago area. This is a hybrid position working in the Chicago office.

    CSH is seeking a results-oriented individual committed to sharing their talent to lead efforts to expand housing and services for highly impacted populations.

    What you will do:

    • In collaboration with the Illinois Director, provide strategic vision and thought leadership to identify, create, broaden, and engage in opportunities to accomplish the Illinois team goals. Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of staff.
    • Manage projects, ensuring clearly defined team roles, on-time and on-budget deliverables, and delivery of quality products. CSH expects project managers to foster a work environment based on quality teamwork, mutual accountability, and high-quality performance.
    • Create and deliver in-person and virtual technical assistance (TA), trainings, and facilitation. In all TA, incorporate an emphasis on data, evidence-based practices and community ownership, ensuring collaboration with communities across Illinois, culturally responsive organizations and programs, and people with lived experience of the systems we work with.
    • Support the Director in preparing and monitoring projects, grants, contracts, and annual budgets.
    • Supervise a team of staff and support their project work and professional development.
    • Identify opportunities and learnings from projects to disseminate recommendations and impact across CSH teams and regions, making appropriate connections to share knowledge, experience, and advice. Support business development and teamwork planning.

    Specifically, we are seeking:

    • 10+ years of professional experience, preferably in the fields of supportive housing, affordable housing, behavioral and primary healthcare, community development, policy, and/or other related fields.
      • CSH defines affordable and supportive housing development experience as having extensive knowledge and experience in creating deeply affordable housing, including funding mechanisms such as Low-Income Housing Tax Credits or HOME funding.
      • CSH seeks individuals with Policy experience, including advocacy with elected officials or local jurisdictions, to influence legislation, funding, or system level practice.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. This includes lived experience of homelessness, housing instability, mental health services, participation in housing programs, etc. and professional and/or volunteer experience in the homelessness field.
    • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, relationship, and management skills, and the high-level decision-making necessary to advance and realize CSH’s vision and further advance the organization’s reputation. Demonstrated skills at building high-quality teams and project management, including setting performance expectations and managing multiple internal and external priorities.
    • Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities and stakeholders, in considering impacts and outcomes of a decision-making process.
    • Ability to facilitate discussions and train large-size groups both virtually and in person.
    • Skilled in facilitation, team building, and developing and maintaining strong relationships within the supportive housing community, and in convening and engaging people from diverse groups and
    • Project management experience with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills and the ability to manage project teams, project budgets, and deadlines with moderate supervision.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, facilitation and training, active listening, and ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socially diverse communities.
    • CSH uses a Microsoft Office environment. Proficiency or a commitment to self-learn and achieve proficiency upon hire is required.
    • Candidates seeking to work remotely or hybrid must provide their own access to a secure high-speed internet signal (preferably hard-wired) at a capacity sufficient to support video, web, and email processing simultaneously based on their personal work environment. This is typically 100 MB and above.
    • Frequent local and regional travel and occasional national travel required. Travel ranges by position and geography, but for this position is estimated between 10-25%.

    Compensation:

    CSH offers generous benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and competitive salaries based on geographic location. Our range for this role in Chicago is $115,000 - $143,000. Our ranges are broad, and it is customary for candidates to join CSH at the lower half of the range to leave room for growth, learning, and development in the role and range. It is uncommon for starting salaries to fall above the mid-point. We negotiate actual salaries with final candidates based on their exact location, experience in similar roles, and expertise related to the qualifications.
