    Description:

    AAANY’s Coalition Organizer works closely with institutional partners across New York City & State and throughout the US, including Communities United for Police Reform (CPR), New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC), National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC), NYC Against Hate, and more. They are the face of AAANY’s advocacy efforts and are expected to take an active role in developing policy proposals and priorities, organizing rallies and other mobilizations, and base-building locally and across the city. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.

    Responsibilities:

    • Direct base-building efforts as well as coalition and campaign-building;
    • Grow AAANY’s base and its impact by organizing, doing outreach, and facilitating member meetings; identifying, developing, and implementing campaigns; and planning and leading direct actions;
    • Represent AAANY in speaking engagements such as press conferences, rally programming, workshops, etc;
    • Develop relationships with member-leaders and organizational allies; work closely with organizational allies to develop campaigns and members;
    • Develop and manage new and existing cultural and programmatic partnerships
    • Lead AAANY’s programmatic activities for the NYC P.A.T.H Forward initiative, including by
    • Leading AAANY’s local work to address hate violence through community education, community support networks, bystander intervention, and more;
    • Working with community partners and subgrantees to develop citywide referral and resource networks, multi-lingual informational tools, and more;
    • Facilitating monthly skill-sharing sessions with subgrantees; and
    • Other tasks as assigned
    • Lead AAANY’s campaigns which include civic engagement, police accountability, and immigrant rights;
    • Conduct outreach activities in the community and facilitate trainings and workshops for members;
    • Mobilize community members around advocacy actions such as voter registration, direct actions, advocacy campaigns, etc;
    • Effectively collaborate with AAANY’s Youth Organizer and Communications Manager to achieve advocacy goals
    • Help draft comprehensive narrative and data reports on activities for all foundation and government contracts; and
    • Other tasks as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Arabic-speaking preferred
    • Basic understanding of Bystander Intervention/Upstander strategies and/or willingness to learn
    • Awareness of NYC and regional political climate and issues affecting AAANY’s community and allies

    Benefits

    Full-time employees also receive 15 days of paid vacation, also six personal days, eight sick days, fifteen paid holidays, as well, AAANY will be closed for 1 week for summer recess . In addition, the employee is expected to contribute 4% of their pre-tax income to their monthly premium. AAANY will cover the remainder of the individual premium. Any additional insured will be paid by the employee. Only employees who opt in to AAANY’s group policy are eligible for dental & vision coverage.
