    Description

    Friends of the Hernández (FOH) is a nonprofit organization that supports the students and families of the Rafael Hernández Dual Language School and its surrounding community in Roxbury/Boston. FOH provides direct programming to students and adults and acts as the primary partner in the school’s community HUB school model. Programs include After School; Adult Education, including a workforce development program; Donation Center and biweekly food distribution; academic and wellness supports; and more.

    About the Position

    The Director of Operations ensures the effective day-to-day administrative and operational functions of Friends of the Hernández programs. In collaboration with FOH’s Executive Director, the Operations Director will be responsible for hiring and staff management, grant implementation, EEC compliance, supervision of service corps members, event planning, and schedule management. The DO will also assist with budget implementation, Adult Education participant evaluation, and periodic direct service through a club or program in the After School Program.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Supervision: empower direct report staff to deliver high quality programs through regular supervision and coaching as well as providing corrective action or improvement plans as needed
    • Leadership Collaboration: participate as a member of FOH’s leadership team to ensure organizational resources are effectively managed to have greatest impact on shared goals
    • Systems: develop and maintain internal operational systems for programs, including EEC licensure for the After School program and fidelity to grant requirements for any program of FOH with monitoring or reporting requirements
    • Human Resources: Support recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes. Maintain personnel records and ensure compliance with employment laws. Coordinate employee benefits administration and annual enrollment
    • Finances and Budget: Support budget planning, tracking, and reporting in collaboration with the Budget and Development Director
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned in keeping with organizational goals and management responsibilities

    Candidate Requirements

    • Significant experience managing an EEC licensed After School Program
    • Excellent written, verbal, and numeracy skills, with an attention to detail
    • Experience in youth development, education, or other social services
    • Proven experience as a leader and manager of both full and part time staff
    • Deep commitment to the mission and vision of Friends of the Hernández
    • As a partner to a Dual Language Spanish school, preference for candidates who are at least conversationally bilingual in Spanish and English

    Compensation and Benefits

    • $71,000 - $74,000 salary based on experience
    • $5,000 annual health insurance stipend for purchase of a plan through the MA Health Connector
    • 223 day work year (approx 23 days off to be determined with the Board) and 14 paid holidays
    • Access to 401K retirement plan after 90 day probationary period with 100% vested immediately
