    Description

    volunteers include individuals, groups, teens, individuals with special needs, families,

    and people with court-ordered service requirements.

    Position Summary: The Volunteer Services Associate is responsible for assisting the

    Director of Volunteer Services in recruitment, retention, supervision, scheduling,

    training, data keeping, reporting and recognition of AFAC volunteers.

    Supervisor: Assistant Director of Volunteer Services

    Principle Duties:

    1. Create a welcoming, fun, inclusive & safe environment for volunteers.
    2. Schedule shifts for both individual and group volunteers.
    3. Conduct orientations for new volunteers.
    4. Cultivate and maintain relationships with new and existing volunteers.
    5. Daily collaboration across departments to determine volunteer needs and potential assignments.
    6. Participate in recruitment and outreach initiatives
    7. Maintain and update calendars and a scheduling system.
    8. Maintain volunteer records, profiles, time sheets and reports.
    9. Assist with resolution of volunteer-related matters.
    10. Participate in the planning of and help manage volunteers at AFAC special

    events including off-hours events.

    1. Develop and maintain volunteer opportunities on internet sites, in local press, AFAC’s website and e-newsletter.
    2. Provide general phone coverage, respond to questions and attend events as a representative of AFAC.
    3. Other duties as assigned.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    1. Excellent written, verbal communications and people skills.
    2. Highly organized and detail oriented.
    3. Effective time management and multi-tasking abilities.
    4. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
    5. Familiarity with non–profit work environment and volunteer management

    techniques and practices.

    1. Skilled in public speaking and group presentations.
    2. Ability to use Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
    3. Ability to communicate, motivate, lead and relate effectively to a wide variety of individuals.
    4. Some local travel involving driving may be required on occasion.

    Schedule:

    Work hours would typically be 8:45-5:00 Tuesday-Friday and 8:00-3:00 on

    Saturdays. There would be occasional evenings required (2-3 per month), that would be exchanged for daytime hours.

    Education and Experience:

    BA/BS preferred and at least one year of relevant work or volunteer experience. Non- profit job experience valued. Proficient Spanish speakers are encouraged to apply.

    Position Detail: Full-time position for 40 hours a week with very limited remote working

    opportunities. This position is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor

    Standards Act. Benefits include paid sick and annual leave, paid holidays, health

    insurance, and a 401K plan. The salary range for this position is $52,000-$57,000.
