    The Organization

    Lighthouse Foundation of Chicagoland is a Black LGBTQ+-led, multiracial social justice organization that advances justice for Black LGBTQ+ people across Chicagoland through empowerment, education, and entertainment. Since July 2019, Lighthouse Foundation has launched the nation’s first Black Queer Equity Index, partnered with 24 organizations, and hosted 140+ activations with 1,600+ Individuals.

    The Role

    The Contract HIV Tester administers HIV tests to participants at relevant Lighthouse Foundation events. The HIV Tester will also provide linkage to care for positive and High-Risk Negative individuals.

    The ideal candidate is an adaptive self-starter who enjoys working as part of a team and is growth-oriented. This part-time contract role will average 4-8 hours per event. All events will be hosted in Chicago.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide up-to-date HIV related informational materials at Lighthouse Foundation events.
    • Provide services and/or referrals to clients and their families, including HIV education and linkage to care.
    • Secure and maintain HIV tests in a HIPPA compliant environment.
    • Identify new community partners where HIV rapid testing can be conducted.
    • Maintain consistent on-going communication with medical providers to streamline the linkage to medical care process.
    • Coordinate care with Linkage to care Specialists and health care providers.

    Experience and Skills

    • Completed required trainings to administer HIV tests:

    i. IDPH Confidentiality and Security Training;

    ii. IDPH HIV Prevention Home Study Course;

    iii. IDPH HIV/STD Risk Reduction Counseling Training;

    iv. IDPH Risk Based HIV Testing Training.

    • High School Diploma/GED required (bachelor’s degree preferred).
    • At least two years of demonstrated experience linking at-risk/vulnerable populations.
    • Familiarity with navigation and linkage of programs for high-risk populations.
    • Sensitivity to the needs of diverse cultures and populations, and the issues that impact HIV positive, High-Risk Negative individuals and their families.
    • Experience and interpersonal skills working with culturally and socially diverse community groups including Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, and the underserved.
    • Able to work independently within an agency team and have excellent organizational skills.
    • Self-motivated, problem solver, and able to organize job assignments with strong leadership skills.
