    Description

    The People’s Justice Project (PJP) builds the power of black and brown people disproportionately affected by state violence, mass criminalization, and incarceration by centering community organizing and leadership development.

    The Office Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the smooth daily operation of the PJP office, greeting visitors and volunteers, and providing administrative support to both onsite and remote staff. This role will also assist with transportation of organization materials, and event set-up/break-down.

    Responsibilities

    • Reception: Greet visitors and direct them appropriately. Answer and direct phone calls, emails, and inquiries. Manage visitor/volunteer log and assist with managing office space calendar.
    • Event Support: Assist with the set-up and break-down of events in the office and out in the community. Run occasional errands and transport materials to events, as needed, using personal vehicle.
    • Inventory Management: Maintain office and outreach supplies inventory, coordinate orders when necessary, and organize stock.
    • Office Maintenance & Set-up: Assist with initial office set-up and design of office plans and protocols. Perform light office cleaning duties to ensure a tidy and professional environment.
    • Administrative Assistance: Provide administrative support such as filing, copying, and monitoring organizational mail and email.
    • Data Entry: Accurately enter and update information in databases and spreadsheets.

    Because this position is new to our team, we are still in the process of determining all the roles it can encompass. We hope the person we hire will help us continue to refine the position responsibilities.

    Qualifications

    We are seeking a highly organized and reliable individual to join our small team and become an integral part of realizing PJP’s commitment to the community.

    • Previous administrative or customer assistance experience is required.
    • Must have a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Proficiency in basic computer applications (GoogleSuite experience a plus).
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
    • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and bend for extended periods.
    • Occasional crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
    • Use of hands and fingers to type on keyboard.
    • The work environment is primarily in an office setting, with occasional travel around the City of Columbus to event spaces and outdoor settings.
