Role Overview

The Senior Director of Workforce Programs is a newly created, mission-critical role within the Program Leadership team. This role is responsible for leading the strategy, implementation, and continuous improvement of TKH’s workforce development programs nationally, with a focus on increasing student retention, program completion, and post-graduation employment outcomes for full-time adult fellows.

Reporting directly to the Chief Program Officer (CPO), the Senior Director will act as a key thought partner in shaping the adult workforce portfolio, ensuring program fidelity and consistent delivery across all TKH regions. They will supervise a cross-functional team of 15+ program staff, including managers overseeing instruction, program delivery, and student success, and will collaborate with the CPO to align workforce programming with TKH’s broader strategic goals.

Program Strategy and Vision (20%)

• Lead the strategic planning and execution of TKH’s workforce development portfolio, aligning programmatic direction with TKH’s organizational mission and long-term goals.
• Collaborate and thought partner with the Chief Program Officer to translate high-level objectives into sustainable and replicable program models that drive strong learner outcomes.
• Define and reinforce a clear, consistent vision for program fidelity across all regions, ensuring quality and alignment in delivery.
• Analyze labor market trends and participant feedback to innovate and evolve the workforce development strategy.

Program Operations and Performance Management (35%)

• Drive the operational execution of adult workforce programming, including systems and processes that ensure seamless delivery across multiple regions.
• Develop, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to strengthen program quality, student retention, graduation, and job placement outcomes.
• Introduce and lead continuous improvement efforts using data and stakeholder insights.
• Ensure alignment between program operations and instructional, curricular, student support, and career readiness initiatives.

Team Leadership and Staff Development (30%)

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of high-performing program staff, including Program Managers, Instructional Leads and front line staff, to meet program goals and deliver high-quality learner experiences.
• Build systems for team development, performance management, and accountability that foster growth, innovation, and collaboration.
• Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and results-oriented culture that reflects TKH’s values and mission.

Cross-Functional and External Collaboration (15%)

• Partner closely with other program directors and senior leaders to drive alignment and cohesion across TKH’s full suite of programs.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as External Affairs, Student Recruitment, Finance, and Operations to ensure program offerings are comprehensive, relevant, and responsive to learner and market needs.
• Represent TKH in external forums, including funder meetings, workforce development coalitions, and industry convenings, to share best practices and build strategic partnerships.

Qualifications

Experience

• 8+ years of experience in workforce development, adult education, or related fields; 3+ years managing multi-region and multi-layered high-performing teams.
• Proven ability to design and implement programs that improve retention and job placement outcomes.
• Significant experience managing and scaling programs across multiple sites or regions, with a focus on operational consistency and performance outcomes.
• Strong analytical, strategic planning, and project management skills.
• Deep understanding of adult learning, career development, and labor market trends.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and community empowerment.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

Skills and Approach to Work

• Computer proficiency, including Google Suite
• Superb written and verbal communication skills;
• Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to conduct and coordinate multiple tasks and projects under pressure and meet deadlines;

Compensation and Benefits

• $125,000-$170,000 per year (New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary closer to the start of the range depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role)

Hybrid Work at TKH

All full-time staff are expected to come into a TKH office or the field (community and industry events, including conferences or travel for work) 1-2 days per week, and the Leadership Team will be encouraged to come into a TKH office at least two times per week. There will be one consistent team day a week that will vary by team. Please note that there are some roles that may require being on-site more based on the job responsibilities.

In addition to the 1 team day, there will be weeks when the expectation is 2 days/week based on required meetings. These may include all staff meetings, department stepbacks, professional development, retreats, events, or other purposeful reasons, as requested by your supervisor or team lead.
