    Position Overview

    Ardella’s House supports women with criminal justice histories in realizing new possibilities for themselves and their families. We provide transitional housing, wraparound services, and a supportive, non-institutional environment that fosters stability, healing, and transformation.

    The Housing Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring our safe house is a place of dignity, accountability, and growth. This position is responsible for day-to-day operations of the home, resident support and engagement, program coordination, and connection to internal and external services. The ideal candidate is deeply committed to justice, healing, and empowerment for women impacted by incarceration.

    Key Responsibilities

    Resident Intake & Needs Assessment

      • Conduct intakes for new residents, including orientation and needs assessment.
      • Ensure residents receive essential items (clothing, toiletries, linens, etc.).
      • Support residents in securing vital documents (e.g., ID, Social Security, public assistance).

    Housing & Program Coordination

      • Create a welcoming, non-institutional environment rooted in trauma-informed and gender-responsive practices.
      • Maintain a drug- and alcohol-free facility, fostering safety and accountability.
      • Coordinate weekly meetings, community meals, and house activities that promote healing and peer connection.
      • Collaborate with the Workforce Development Coordinator and other team members to align housing with residents' employment and education goals.

    Resident Support & Case Management

      • Conduct regular check-ins and progress assessments with each resident.
      • Support residents in meeting individual goals and preparing for independent living.
      • Provide advocacy support as needed with probation/parole, courts, or service agencies.
      • Offer crisis intervention and mediation when challenges arise.

    Facility Oversight & Property Management

      • Monitor cleanliness and upkeep of the home, ensuring a warm, habitable space.
      • Manage inventory and coordinate supplies, groceries, and emergency needs.
      • Document maintenance issues and coordinate with vendors or landlord for repairs.

    Documentation & Compliance

      • Maintain accurate records of resident progress, program participation, and incident reports.
      • Assist with data tracking and reporting for grants and funders.

    General Support

      • Perform other duties as assigned to advance the mission and operations of Ardella’s House.

    Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or related field, or equivalent experience.
      • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting justice-impacted or system-involved women, housing coordination, case management, or a related field.
      • A strong understanding of trauma, recovery, harm reduction, and reentry barriers.
      • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to support program operations.
      • A valid Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance coverage.
    • Knowledge of Philadelphia resources and service landscape.

    Skills

    • Computer literacy and ability to maintain electronic case files.
      • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
      • Active listening and crisis intervention skills.
      • Sound judgment and the ability to maintain professional boundaries in sensitive situations.
      • Lived experience with incarceration or reentry is strongly encouraged.

    Level of Language Proficiency
