    Location: Glenview, IL

    Reports to: Senior Director, Development (Major Gifts)

    Salary Range: $65,000 to $75,000 plus performance-based bonus

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    As a member of the Major Gifts Team, the Manager of Major Gifts is responsible for the management of a portfolio major gift donors ($2,500 or greater annually), with longer term fundraising potential. This position will be responsible for growing revenue from this portfolio annually.Revenue growth will also be achieved by identifying and adding new major gift donors to one’s portfolio. This individual will have a particular focus on working with donors who are members of the WGA Leadership Council. The Leadership Council is a volunteer-driven enterprise, comprised of over 300 young Evans Scholars Alumni and Supporters.This group of young professionals who are rising in their careers, plays a crucial role in changing the lives of young men and women by supporting the Evans Scholars Foundation.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage a portfolio of 150 major gift donors and prospects with a goal of developing and growing portfolio revenue by 10% annually.
    • Grow relationship with portfolio of donors over time, qualifying donors for leadership level gifts ($50,000 and above) over time.
    • Identify new unmanaged prospects that have capacity to give a minimum of $2,500 annually to the Evans Scholars annual operating fund, the Par Club. Secure a minimum of 25 new gifts at the $2,500 level per year.
    • Particular focus on engaging and soliciting members of the WGA Leadership Council for operating gifts of $2,500 or greater.
    • Conduct a minimum of 10 in person meetings per month, and travel to regions that have Leadership Council chapters, including, but not limited to, Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati, and New York.
    • Collaborate and support other areas of Development team including but not limited to, Principal Gifts, Director Development, Annual Giving and Caddie Development.
    • Collaborate with WGA/ESF Events staff to co-sell, staff, and provide day-of- logistical assistance at ESF fundraising events.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    The ideal Manager, Major Gifts will bring most of the following qualifications and skill sets:

    • Strong belief in and commitment to ESF’s mission and vision.
    • A minimum of two years of successful sales or fundraising experience.
    • Successful track record of securing in-person meetings.
    • Ability to effectively utilize donor data and reports to efficiently achieve metric based goals.
    • A valid driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time. Ability to work some nights and weekends as required.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate complex relationship and interact with WGA Directors, ESF Alumni, donors, and volunteers.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; CRMS systems such as Raiser’s Edge, and internet software.
    • Bachelor’s degree is required.
    • Familiarity with game of golf, country clubs and/or golf caddie programs is preferred.

    Hybrid Policy: This is a hybrid role. For the first 6 months, the employee is expected to work onsite 4 days per week, with 1 remote day. After the 6-month period, the schedule shifts to a hybrid model with up to 2 remote days per week and 3 required onsite days.

    Since 1930, the Evans Scholars Foundation (ESF) has provided full tuition and housing scholarships to deserving caddies. More than 12,285 Alumni have graduated as Evans Scholars, representing more than $435 million in tuition and housing costs. There are currently 1,190 Evans Scholars attending 24 universities across the country. The Western Golf Association (WGA) has conducted championships for professional and amateur golfers since 1899. Today, it is a driving force in the game of golf, raises funds and awareness for the Evans Scholars Program and promotes youth caddie opportunities.
