    POSITION SUMMARY

    We are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Manager of STEM Program to lead the design, management, and growth of STEAM initiatives within our Black College Success (BCS) program. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of STEAM programming—from strategic development to direct service delivery—ensuring students receive high-impact, culturally relevant experiences that improve academic outcomes and college readiness. The Senior Manager will supervise staff, manage student case loads, deepen school and community partnerships, and drive innovation in program implementation.

    The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, passionate educator, and equity-driven leader with strong experience in STEAM education, youth development, and program leadership.This is a full time, exempt position.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    Strategic Leadership & Program Development

    • Assist in designing, leading, and evaluating STEAM initiatives aligned with BCS goals and student success outcomes.
    • Oversee the development of project-based, culturally affirming STEAM curricula in areas such as robotics, game development, digital media, and product design.
    • Lead the planning and execution of large-scale STEAM events (e.g., showcases, competitions, summer programs).
    • Conduct ongoing program assessment and use data to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
    • Manage program budgets, resources, and timelines in collaboration with leadership.

    Program Attendance & Support:

    • Actively participate in Saturday programming sessions, fostering student engagement and a dynamic learning environment.
    • Support the successful execution of the two-week summer program by assisting with logistics, facilitating activities, and ensuring high levels of student participation.
    • Implement effective behavior management strategies to cultivate a positive, inclusive, and productive learning atmosphere.

    Team Supervision & Staff Development

    • Lead and support STEAM program staff, facilitators, and volunteers.
    • Provide coaching, training, and development to ensure high-quality instruction and student engagement.
    • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven team culture.

    Student Case Management & Support

    • Develop and implement a case management system to monitor and support individual students' progress in STEAM and college access pathways.
    • Regularly meet with students to provide academic, career, and social-emotional guidance.
    • Coordinate wraparound services and referrals as needed in collaboration with BCS advisors and community partners.
    • Ensure students maintain program requirements, including GPA, attendance, and participation benchmarks.

    Community & School Partnerships

    • Build and sustain relationships with school sites, colleges, CBOs, and industry partners to expand student opportunities.
    • Serve as the primary liaison for STEAM partners and sponsors, identifying opportunities for collaboration and investment.
    • Co-create internship and mentorship pipelines with postsecondary and industry partners.

    Operations & Administration

    • Maintain accurate program data, student records, and progress reports.
    • Leverage platforms such as Salesforce, Google Suite, Asana, and Canva to support project management, communication, and reporting.
    • Ensure all programming is aligned with BCS’s mission and equity-centered outcomes.
    • Support the promotion of STEAM programs through communications, outreach, and branding strategies.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in a STEAM-related field required; Master’s degree or leadership certification preferred.
    • 5+ years of experience in STEAM education, youth development, or college access work.
    • 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
    • Strong understanding of equity in education, culturally responsive pedagogy, and the needs of Black students in South LA.
    • Proven success in curriculum development, case management, and program evaluation.
    • Experience managing teams, budgets, partnerships, and large-scale events.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
    • Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, Asana, Canva, and related tech platforms.
    • Valid CA driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
    • Strong knowledge/exposure/training in STEAM programming, including coding, robotics, and digital media.
    • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive innovative programming.
    • Experience collaborating with schools, universities, and community organizations.
    • Valid driver’s license required.
