We are seeking a talented, creative and deadline driven contributor to join our Communications Team and amplify our mission and impact.

    Position Summary

The Manager, Web and Design, is a strategic and hands-on role responsible for leading the design, optimization and governance of NDI’s digital platforms. This individual oversees a portfolio of websites, including nationaldisabilityinstitute.org, ABLEnrc.org, leadcenter.org and disabilitysmallbusiness.org, ensuring they are accessible, visually compelling, user-friendly, and aligned with organizational goals.

In addition to website leadership, the Manager provides in-house graphic design services, collaborating across departments to develop digital assets that elevate NDI’s brand presence. This role requires a proactive and tech-savvy manager with strong UX/UI sensibilities, accessibility expertise, and the ability to align web and design strategies with mission-driven communications goals.

    Key Responsibilities

    Website Strategy and Management (60%)

      1. Lead the design, development, and performance optimization of multiple websites, ensuring ADA/WCAG accessibility compliance and alignment with best-in-class UX/UI standards.
      2. Oversee content strategy and site architecture, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely updates across all sites.
      3. Serve as the technical point of contact for all web platforms (primarily WordPress), managing vendors, domains, hosting, and security updates.
      4. Monitor, analyze, and report on web performance using tools such as Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, and Tag Manager; provide data-driven insights to optimize engagement.
      5. Implement SEO and metadata best practices to maximize organic visibility.
      6. Maintain web content calendars and develop SOPs to guide internal web contributors.
      7. Partner with internal teams to launch new pages, microsites, and integrations aligned with fundraising, outreach, and programmatic goals.

    Design and Visual Communications (40%)

      • Create accessible and brand-consistent visual assets including web graphics, social media imagery, reports, infographics, presentations, and event collateral.
      • Ensure consistency in branding and messaging across all channels and materials.
      • Translate programmatic needs and concepts into visually compelling design solutions.
      • Collaborate with staff on creative direction for campaigns and storytelling assets.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Digital Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
    • 8+ years of experience managing and designing accessible, responsive websites, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
    • Advanced proficiency in WordPress and familiarity with other CMS platforms.
    • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, SEO best practices, and web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA or higher).
    • Proven ability to manage full project cycles, from planning through implementation and analysis
    • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva; Figma is a plus.
    • Strong understanding of UX/UI principles and user-centered design.
    • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills with attention to detail.
    • Experience presenting analytics reports and performance insights to stakeholders.
    • Ability to thrive in a remote, collaborative, deadline-driven work environment.
    • Commitment to NDI’s mission and values, with sensitivity to disability inclusion and equity.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience managing multiple websites concurrently.
    • Experience with email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp) and CRM integrations (such as SalesForce).
    • Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro or equivalent).
    • Background in digital governance and content strategy development.
