    About the Role:

    The Finance Manager will be a key member of the finance team and play an integral role in all aspects of accounting. This includes overseeing daily accounting operations, managing cash flow forecasting, month-end close, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit financial regulations. You will directly supervise the Senior Accountant and work closely with the Director of Finance on strategic financial planning. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Grants and Compliance team on managing grants and contracts.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Accounting & Financial Management:

    • Oversee daily financial operations including payroll, invoicing, accounts payable, and receivable.
    • Manage the month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
    • Supervise and mentor the Senior Accountant to ensure smooth operations across accounting functions.

    Budgeting, Cash Flow & Forecasting:

    • Work closely with the Director of Finance to manage cash flow and ensure the financial health of the organization.
    • Assist in preparing the annual budget and monitoring financial performance to ensure alignment with strategic goals.

    Grant & Contract Finance Management:

    • Partner with the Grants and Compliance Manager to create, track, and report on financials for grants and contracts.
    • Ensure proper financial tracking of funds and compliance with grant requirements.

    Audit & Compliance:

    • Prepare for and support annual audits, ensuring timely and accurate documentation and reports.
    • Maintain compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, GAAP, and all applicable regulations.

    Process Improvement & Reporting:

    • Continuously seek improvements to accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Provide regular financial reports to the Director of Finance, ensuring that data is clear, accurate, and actionable.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
    • 3+ years of experience in nonprofit finance/accounting, including experience with grants and contracts.
    • Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
    • Proven ability to manage complex financial tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate financial data effectively.
    • Experience with QuickBooks.
    • Experience in preparing for and participating in audits.
    • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate across teams.
