    SUMMARY:

    The Accounting Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of accounting and financial support tasks to ensure the accurate and timely processing of transactions. Working closely with the finance and accounting team, this role will provide critical administrative support to ensure that financial operations run smoothly including recording of payments, expenses, reconciliations, and journal entries. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Prepare and make bank deposits using a remote deposit system and recording the deposits in the Payments Register.
      • Create batches for all receipts (checks, credit cards, ACHs, wires)
      • Monitor and manage the accounting inbox daily, ensuring timely responses to inquiries from members, vendors, and staff.
      • Track and escalate urgent matters to the appropriate finance team member while maintaining an organized system for filing and categorizing emails.
      • Work with members to complete new vendor forms and online portals set up for ACH/virtual card payments.
    • Address member inquiries related to vendor set up, payments, and refunds.
    • Follow up on outstanding AR balances and support the resolution of payment issues.
    • Collaborate with the membership team to ensure alignment on member payments and account statuses.
      • Provide support to the finance team in preparing for monthly and year-end closings.
      • Assist the finance teams in the preparation of various workpapers in Excel as needed.
      • Assist in preparing and entering journal entries to record transactions. Prepare summaries and reports, where necessary.
      • Preform administrative and clerical tasks, such as data entry, preparing invoices, sending bill reminders, filing paperwork, and document preparation.
      • Assist the finance team with the annual audit process. Prepare support documentation as needed.
      • Monitor policies, procedures, and controls relating to accounting roles and function; identify and suggest improvements and efficiencies.
      • Other projects as assigned.

    EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

    Must have an associate’s degree in accounting or finance and working knowledge of GAAP for non-profits as well as a minimum of two years of experience in finance and/or accounting. Experience working with 501(c)3 and 501(c)6 non-profit organizations is preferred.

    Must have familiarity with CRM database software, Salesforce, Intacct, Tallie and Bill.com and proficiency in Microsoft Suite. Must have a proven track record of confidentiality and record-keeping. Must possess great organizational, and analytical skills, and have great time management skills. Must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy while processing large volumes of data.

Must exhibit excellent spoken and written communication skills, collaborative work ethic combined with a strong sense of independent ownership of tasks, and a genuine desire to learn.     The salary/hourly range for this position is $55,500 - $60,500 plus bonus potential. Compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
