    Who We Seek

    Hispanic Federation seeks an Environmental Justice Program Manager, to support engagement around environmental justice issues experienced by Latino North Carolina communities. The position will support underserved communities in addressing environmental challenges that contribute to social, economic, and health disparities. The Program Manager will support policy and program management and will support both affected communities and community based organizations involved in community outreach and education.

    The successful candidate will be a self-starter with experience working in the Latino community in North Carolina. They must be able to accurately complete a range of tasks necessary for successful and timely program administration. This position reports to the Director for NC and MidSouth Operations.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Program Management

    • Manage the Environmental Justice Program; lead a coalition of Latino organizations working in the environmental justice space, maintain relationships with local and state government agencies and community-based organization (CBO) partners, and recruit and engage Latino community members in advocacy campaigns.
    • Oversee CBO grants by providing feedback on reports provided and working interdepartmentally to ensure timely payments and on-time deliverables.
    • Plan and execute programming, events, and community engagement initiatives in conjunction with work happening statewide.
    • Maintain organized program files; track deliverables and ensure proper documentation for required reporting and future proposals to funders and government agencies as requested.
    • Represent Hispanic Federation at community events and in public forums, presenting HF’s positions in a variety of spaces.
    • Provide administrative support as needed.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • A bachelor's degree and three (3) years of nonprofit experience is required; a master's degree in public policy, health policy, or another related field is an asset.
    • Experience with community engagement, program management, and / or grants management is strongly preferred.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong financial and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
    • Must be able to function well in a fast-paced work environment, able to respond to multiple requests for assistance simultaneously.
    • Work collaboratively and independently, have experience working with remote offices
    • Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a flexible and collaborative spirit.
    • Ability to prioritize and work under multiple deadlines.
    • Strong understanding of Latino and social justice issues and a commitment to Hispanic Federation's mission and core values.
    • Bilingual in written and spoken English and Spanish is required.
    • Access to reliable transportation, and must possess a current, valid driver’s license.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    Salary range for this position is $55,000-$60,000 and commensurate with experience. Compensation comes with a robust benefits package with fully subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance, 403(B) retirement plan (including eligibility for a company match), and access to flexible spending and pre-tax commuter benefits. Full- time regular employees are also provided with fifteen (15) vacation days, four (4) personal days, and paid sick time.
