    POSITION SUMMARY

    ABIC is looking for a seasoned, politically astute, and deeply passionate individual to serve as our Field Director to partner on ABIC’s issue campaigns. This individual will directly supervise field team members and report progress to the Campaign Director. The position includes driving ABIC’s Field program and supporting team members in growing, building, and activating ABIC’s base of employer supporters and community partners pushing for common sense immigration solutions.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Build a Relational Organizing and Campaign-Oriented Field Program
    • Lead field team efforts to build and activate ABIC’s base of employer supporters and community partners pushing for common sense immigration solutions, including but not limited to:
    • Work with the Campaign Director and field staff to identify campaign opportunities by state or by sector of the economy and ensure field activities effectively advance campaign priorities
    • Managing and helping to build out a strong team of 5-10 field organizers
    • Establish a clear recruitment pipeline and ladder of engagement for ABIC’s supporter base
    • Ensure the field team is consistently recruiting new employers and leaders and moving them through that ladder of engagement from initial engagement to growing into leadership roles
    • Consistent and clear-tracking of one-on-one relational meetings and ensuring the field team is maintaining the necessary data
    • Build an infrastructure of key regional and sector-based leadership teams
    • Oversee the execution of critical campaign activities that are led by the field team including setting metrics and managing quality control on team-wide field activities including roundtables, summits, fly-ins, sign-on letters etc…
    • Identify and drive creation of recruitment materials and strategies
    • Mentor and arrange training for field team members
    • Work with staff in human resources to develop a set of core competencies (in organizing and campaigning) each field position needs to possess to be successful
    • Design, build and implement a comprehensive training and onboarding and mentoring process that develops these core competencies field staff at different levels need to posses
    • Engage field staff in the development, assessment and adjustment of strategy to advance ABIC campaigns
    • Communicate and collaborate with the field team and other departments within the organization to ensure efficient and effective program execution
    • Lead subsections of our organizational planning processes, including pieces of our overall program’s strategic plans and state team’s campaign and work plans
    • Strategize and oversee multiple campaigns and budgets for the organization
    • Support the development, growth, and morale of field team members
    • Political Strategy & Campaigning
    • Offer and build out creative and effective field strategies to help execute campaigns and help the team to pivot as strategies need to change or respond to new information
    • Build and maintain a cadre of key relationships with employer members, bipartisan lawmakers, and/or organizational allies around campaign and political strategy
    • Regularly communicate and identify when and how we can best partner and drive the organization toward effective partnerships
    • Represent ABIC in external meetings, conferences, discussions, etc.,
    • Take on other tasks as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Deep experience with relational organizing strategies including recruiting leaders, educating them on issues, advancing them through a ladder of engagement, leadership development, building leadership teams and driving issue field efforts that move leaders to take action on campaigns
    • Skills in training, mentoring, and developing field organizers around relational organizing strategies and campaigning
    • Significant issue, political, or electoral campaigning experience with a minimum of 6 years experience in a senior management role and/or at a minimum two election cycles in a senior management role in either a candidate campaign(s), an advocacy organization, issue campaign, or a PAC, preferably managing large-scale or statewide issue or political campaigns
    • Proven commitment to ABIC’s mission and a substantial understanding of immigration and economic development
    • Experience with organizing unlikely allies, businesses, rural and faith leaders, and a willingness to work with electeds from both parties
    • Strong understanding of national and state political and electoral landscape and how best to make strategic impact at scale
    • Experience with, and proven ability in managing teams, supporting strong morale, developing staff and providing clear feedback and supervision
    • An independent and strong leader who is able to drive projects and programs to completion in a fast-paced environment, including a proven ability for and the understanding of the importance of coalition building to advance victories
    • Strong strategic and campaign planning skills and commitment to ongoing processes that ensure transparency and communication in carrying out the work
    • Has developed, written, and executed successful field campaign plans that demonstrate strategic focus and creativity
    • Proficient with data, polling, latest technologies, and best practices in the field and the ability to learn various systems for data tracking, email, mobile, volunteer recruitment, and fundraising.

    Reports to: ABIC’s Campaign Director. The Field Director can live anywhere in the United States but will be assigned states to work with and must be willing to travel domestically for 25-40% of their time.

    The American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC) is active in 21 key states and communities across the country, engaging activists, advocates, business leaders, Republican and Democrat lawmakers on the urgency of passing immigration reform that boosts our economy, creates American jobs, eases the labor shortage, and supports families. The goal of our bipartisan coalition of over 1700+ diverse businesses and business associations is to provide a strong and effective voice seeking sensible immigration reforms to grow our economy and strengthen American families.

    ABIC members include CEOs, retired CEOs, business associations, small business owners as well as hospitals and universities. ABIC works in partnership with diverse businesses and advocates to support policies at the state and federal levels. In addition, ABIC organizes committees of business leaders from sectors of the economy that rely on the immigrant workforce such as agriculture, construction, hospitality, and health care. Currently, ABIC is active in 21 states including Illinois, Florida, Texas, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, South Carolina, North Carolina, Colorado, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Arizona, Idaho, Utah, and Nevada.
