    Description

    The Washington State Democratic Party is seeking a Coordinated Director to lead our 2026 Coordinated Campaign. The Coordinated Director is responsible for guiding people management and internal operations, as well as having a crucial role in determining strategy for the 2026 Coordinated Campaign.

    A successful candidate will be a political pro with a positive management style, who is motivated to help Democrats secure big wins at the ballot box. We are looking for a self-starter who has the ability to bring a diverse set of stakeholders together.

    The Coordinated Director will report to the Executive Director, and will help hire, then manage the entire Coordinated Campaign staff. The job is anticipated to last through the end of the 2026 election cycle. Evening and weekend work will be required, particularly as we get closer to the 2026 General Election.

    Core Competencies

    • The Coordinated Campaign Director is responsible for well-managed Coordinated operations, both internal and external
    • Unwavering commitment to winning Democratic majorities at all levels in Washington state, and a demonstrated commitment to the Democratic Party
    • Excellent political awareness, and deep understanding of state politics
    • Demonstrated ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a diverse staff, activists, allies, and stakeholders
    • Effectively articulate and promote the Coordinated Campaign, its function, and benefits to Washington State

    Experience

    • At least 3 cycles of political campaign experience
    • Experience in Washington state politics preferred, but not required
    • Coordinated Campaign Experience, or significant experience working on a statewide or congressional political campaign, a state party, or a leadership role in a state legislative caucus
    • Experience managing unionized staff
    • Familiarity with multi-million dollar budgets, and relatively complex tracking and financial compliance laws
    • Strong understanding of campaign budgets, NGP/VAN, other campaign tools
    • Demonstrated experience managing large diverse teams with a variety of experience levels, and a track record of achieving excellent outcomes through positive management with a coaching mindset
    • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple elected officials, stakeholders groups and allies
    • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize projects effectively under strict deadlines
    • Excellent people management and communication skills
    • Strong ability to turn ideas into action, be detail-oriented, prioritize, and manage staff

    Responsibilities

    • Guiding the internal and external aspects of the 2026 Coordinated campaign, including, but not limited to: election activities, voter protections, compliance, budgeting, staff recruitment, retention, outreach and direct voter contact
    • Managing all departments of the Coordinated Campaign, as well as managing vendors and consultants
    • Recruiting, hiring, and coaching staff as needed
    • Maintaining close working relationships with partner organizations including, but not limited to Democratic elected officials and staff, allies and stakeholders, and national party committees
    • Serving as a spokesperson for the 2026 Coordinated Campaign in conjunction with the Party Chair
    • Keeping an updated and working knowledge of campaign finance, election, and compliance laws, and working closely with legal partners and any outside consultants to ensure all Party activities are compliant with applicable laws
    • Tracking the budget for the Coordinated Campaign
    • Other duties as required
