Partners for Rural Impact’s (PRI) ultimate goal is for an America where all kids are successful, regardless of zip code, income, background, or ability. At PRI, our focus is on ensuring that all children in rural places achieve success. Partners for Rural Impact was born out of our place-based partnership in Appalachia, where we’ve worked for 25 years to create student opportunity and success.

    Position Summary

PRI is seeking a strategic and systems-oriented financial leader to serve as its Vice President of Finance, a critical executive role reporting directly to an Executive Vice President (EVP). While the role has been part of PRI’s leadership structure in the past, recent years have seen financial responsibilities successfully distributed across a capable team of functional leads. As PRI enters a new phase of growth and operational maturity, we are reinvesting in this dedicated leadership role to fully leverage and integrate the sound financial assets and practices already in place.

The Vice President of Finance will play a central role in assessing and enhancing PRI’s financial systems, policies, and organizational structures to ensure long-term sustainability. Building on a solid foundation, this executive will strengthen institutional frameworks, align financial strategy with organizational goals, and implement tools and processes that increase accuracy, efficiency, and strategic insight. Leading a team with expertise in grant management, compliance, financial statement preparation and risk management, the VP will focus on unifying and optimizing existing functions through strategic oversight and systems-level thinking.

This role is initially structured as a one-year engagement, with the opportunity to extend or transition into a permanent leadership position based on performance, evolving organizational needs, and demonstrated impact.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in financial system design and implementation, financial leadership, grant financial oversight, and cross-functional collaboration. They will have a proven ability to build on organizational strengths, implement scalable financial systems, and align resources with mission outcomes. This is a high-impact opportunity for a visionary finance leader to steward PRI’s financial strategy and contribute to our mission of ensuring that All Rural Students Succeed.
