    Description

    Reporting to the Senior Research Associate, the Survey Manager collaborates with a small team within the Center for Research and Evaluation on Education and Human Services (CREEHS) at Montclair State University to plan and execute a statewide adolescent health survey. The Survey Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the project related to the survey and overseeing its day-to-day operations. This is a full-time, hybrid position, for which some in-person time is required each week.

    This position is a grant-funded position. Employment in a grant-funded position is contingent upon the availability of funding. Appointment to a grant-funded position may be limited to the duration of the grant and is subject to termination if/when funding expires or is otherwise no longer available.

    CREEHS is a University-based research and evaluation center at Montclair State University that provides independent and objective program evaluation, applied research, and program planning services to state and municipal agencies, school districts, colleges and universities, community organizations, and foundations to assist them in meeting their program improvement and accountability needs in the areas of education, public health, and human services. Since its inception in 2011, CREEHS’s goal has been to help our clients collect and use information in ways that improve their programs.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Translate the project’s milestones into day-to-day operations.
    • Manage the successful completion of planned activities.
    • Act as the principal liaison with the project funder (federal program officer), with the grant sponsor (state agency), and with participating districts and schools.
    • Cultivate and sustain relationships with partners, including school superintendents.
    • Manage and perform key data collection activities, including:
      • Recruit public high schools for study participation with targeted engagement strategies.
      • Prepare schools to participate in the study.
      • Administer surveys in schools, which will require car travel in New Jersey.
      • Train and supervise 1 - 5 junior staff during the data collection period.
      • Perform data management processes, including rigorous quality control standards for data entry.
      • Ensure the accuracy and quality of intermediate data reports.
    • Lead the planning and facilitation of stakeholder meetings (virtual and in-person), driving strategic discussions and actionable outcomes.
    • Contribute to the refinement of the surveys
    • Ensure compliance with approved survey administration and data management procedures required by the federal funder.
    • Apply to and assure compliance with the university’s Institutional Review Board (IRB).
    • Develop and deliver presentations, training materials, recruitment materials, and client-facing progress reports.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Minimum three years of experience in applied research project management.
    • Experience leading survey data collection.
    • Fluency in English (written and verbal)
    • Valid Driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and ability to travel within New Jersey.

    PREFERRED:

    • Master’s degree in public health, a social science, education, or public administration from an accredited college or university.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience providing applied research project coordination on a multi-year or recurring project.
    • Experience working with public schools in an administrative or research capacity.
    • Experience leading survey administration efforts as part of an IRB-approved research study.
    • Excellent spoken and written communication skills, including leading meetings.
    • Exceptionally detail-oriented.
    • Strengths both as a team player and a self-starter.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, including comfort facilitating communication in person and remotely.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including task prioritization.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of clients, research participants, or other stakeholders.
    • Efficient and resourceful in problem-solving.
    • Interest in education or public health research.
    • Familiarity with the Google Suite (e.g., Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar).
