    L.A. Works unites Angelenos and inspires action for an equitable LA. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit volunteer action center, we create and manage hands-on community service projects to mobilize volunteers throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

    L.A. Works volunteers are changemakers, giving their time and resources to build the capacity of nonprofit organizations across LA in order to uplift the entire community. As the largest and longest running volunteer action center in Los Angeles, we have a team of over 30 staff that create meaningful volunteer experiences to educate and activate Angelenos to provide positive impact.

    About the Role: The Associate Director of Corporate Engagement is a critical leader within the corporate team, responsible for guiding the day-to-day execution of all corporate programming and events. L.A. Works, as a nonprofit social enterprise, derives a portion of its funding from corporate supporters in exchange for creating impactful service opportunities. These range from large-scale school or nonprofit makeovers to quarterly environmental conservation projects. The Associate Director ensures these initiatives serve pressing social needs while fostering meaningful employee engagement and highlighting the corporate partner’s commitment to the community.

    Overseeing the operational aspects of L.A. Works’ corporate volunteer program, the Associate Director works closely with the Director of Corporate Engagement and supervises the Corporate Event Managers and Warehouse Coordinator. This role focuses on ensuring the seamless implementation of high-quality events, managing logistical details, and building strong relationships with nonprofit and corporate partners. A detail-oriented professional, the Associate Director will ensure that all aspects of event planning, from supply logistics to partner communication, are flawlessly executed. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and leadership skills, experience managing event logistics and teams, and a passion for creating innovative volunteer experiences that drive social change.

    Essential Job Functions

    Event Management:

    • Guide corporate event staff in overseeing the end-to-end service experience for Corporate Events clients.
    • Ensure regular communication with corporate clients throughout the planning process and through post-event gratitude and recaps.
    • Manage the documentation, reporting, and evaluation of corporate events to improve program delivery.
    • Coordinate logistics for corporate events, including supply ordering, warehouse management, and timely delivery.
    • Survey corporate volunteers post-event to gather insights for continuous improvement.

    Team Leadership:

    • Maintain a positive and collaborative team culture, promoting healthy work-life balance.
    • Continuously work to improve corporate event planning processes and outcomes.
    • Develop relationships with nonprofit organizations as potential corporate partner sites or beneficiaries.
    • Oversee the management of the warehouse, delegating day-to-day operations to the Warehouse and Office Coordinator, and ensuring readiness for events.
    • Supervise Corporate Event Managers and Coordinators, ensuring smooth execution of responsibilities and alignment with event goals.

    Key Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with minimum of 3 years progressively responsible management experience.
    • Experience training and supervising employees or long-term volunteers a plus.
    • Knowledge of the nonprofit sector; in-depth understanding of volunteer management and engagement practices.
    • A track record of delivering results while juggling competing priorities under intense time pressure.
    • Comfortable delivering presentations and guiding a room of participants.
    • Proactive, self-directed, and results-oriented personality with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
    • Ability to be creative and resourceful to develop new, unique programs and initiatives.
    • Great event planning, organizational skills and detail-oriented nature.
    • Open to and excited by the opportunity to inform our strategic thinking and work within an entrepreneurial environment.

    Additional requirements:

    • Available to answer corporate inquiries (urgent requests) after work hours;
    • Participate in at least one of L.A Works Internal Task Forces (i.e. DEI, Team FUN, Take Action, etc.).
    • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds;
    • Valid driver’s license;
    • Access to personal car for occasional travel throughout Los Angeles County;
    • Some evening and weekend commitments; and
    • Proficiency with Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite.

    Reporting: This position reports to the Director of Corporate Engagement.
